The Plan

Lexis breathed heavily, cautiously waiting. She

tossed a punch however Kane effortlessly dodged it.

“Too slow”, he smiled a cocky grin, he shifted his

weight forward, and Lexis released a grunt as she

was whacked to her knees. “All these years of

sparring, and you still have much to learn.” Kane

stood over her with a sense of accomplishment, his

voice teeming with boredom.

“Is that so?” before she finished her sentence she

removed his legs from the ground, toppling him

backwards, but Kane instantaneously sprang back

with a kip-up. They exchanged kicks and punches at

each other with such coordination, evading each

other’s a,acks like a choreographed dance. He picked

her up in a fireman’s carry which she immediately

retaliated with elbows to his head until he let go.

Kane fell to his knees as she kicked his legs, without

giving him any room she kneed him in the face. She

cranked her leg backwards like a catapult, giving

Kane enough time to jump back up and land a

superman punch on her right cheek before she could

knee him again. He threw another punch but she

blocked it which he followed up with a spinning

elbow to the head.

Staggered, she grabbed his arm and took him

down into an arm bar, persuading him to tap. With

the sun in his eyes, and his arm being twisted, Kane

can’t help but let a growl of pain escape his mouth.

With a sadistic smile on her face, Lexis tightens her coil around his arm. Kane feels a slight snap, at the

same time he whips a fierce look toward her. Kane

closed his eyes and relaxes hid body, allowing Lexis a

resistant-free and firm grip. Before Lexis was able to

say something wi,y, the rising grin on her face died

as quickly as it sparked. She got the quick realization

that Kane just vanished in thin air.

She scoped her surroundings as she got up, “What

the hell?” she dusted herself off as she waited for a

response. Rising behind her, veins were revealed

with lightning encompassing a clenched fist.

“Smash!” Kane connected a hard gut punch which

directed Lexis tumbling 20 meters backwards.

He raised his arms, palms facing upwards as if he

doesn’t know what just occurred. “Well I never said

that you can’t use your powers. What you going to

cry?” Lexis pulled a fake smile and dashed forward,

her speed catching Kane off guard but quick enough

for him make an X-shape with his arms, ready to

block an a,ack to the face. Realizing too late, Kane

felt his gut crunch and turn as Lexis’ fist drove itself

into him. Gasping for air, he looked down at her; she

looked up with unwavering eyes. Her fist burned a

warm green, driving further and finally sending

Kane flying through the shed. The shed being 50

meters away.

The shed carried all types of weapons, dressed in

dust, yet brand new. The impact from the shed

satisfied the atmosphere with dust and debris.

Kane gradually got up, staggering forward and

pushing broken wood aside. “I guess that’s it for me”

“And the win goes to me, 3-4. I’m catching up.”

He laughs weakly, “I’ve taught you well, you

really are improving.”

“Well you do train about 5 times more than I do,

so it’s about time I try and do some catching up. “

She extended her arm toward him, “yes you have

taught me well, Master Kane” her title to him a clear

joke.

He seized her arm and she lifted him up, they both

laughed as they made their way across the yard.

They both grimace at their own pain, the sun

warming their faces before they entered the house.

Opening the fridge, Lexis stopped Kane on his way

out of the kitchen. “Kane”

“Yo”, he leaned against the wall as Lexis collected

something from the cupboard.

“For years we have been training, improving our

skills and testing out our abilities, learning from…

that.” She dropped some ice blocks into the two

glasses, the cold vapour still rising from them.

You said you had a plan… we had a plan, and that

I should be patient.”

Kane made his way towards her as she filled two

glasses. The cold liquid bubbling as it lifted the cold

blocks.

“I’ve been patient Kane”

“So what’s next in our big book of plans you ask”

“Aye”, she handed him a glass as he made his way

out of the kitchen and into the living room. He

reached out and tapped a key on the keyboard ahead

of him, up sprang a hologram with 6 silhoue,es on

the screen. The hologram hugged the room with a

blue light, flickering occasionally and emi,ing a low

humming sound like a feint generator.

Kane gestured with his glass at the silhoue,es in

front of him, the ice clinking at the movement. “Next,

we recruit a team and make more like us”

“So we’re going along with that plan after all.”

Kane took a sip from his glass and exhaled. He

smiled, appreciating the drink in his hand and eager

about the plan. “As you know, we have thought of

people we can trust and rely on. It’ll be our closest

friends, along with the insight of what abilities to

give them all, I’ve thought this through thoroughly”

Kane clicked enter on the keyboard in front of him

and the silhoue,es changed to show their friends

along with their names below them. “First off we

have Bryson, as we both know he is an athlete, he is

hella fast, and he’s also a black belt in karate. Kinda

cocky and full of himself but he’ll be a great asset to

the team”.

“So super speed I’m guessing?”

“Exactly”

“Links, he relishes playing with fire for some

reason, lives for danger. He is also very agile and

skilled. He can have-“

“Pyrogenesis and Pyrokinesis? I’m sure that

would do” Lexis’ turned to Kane, perplexed.

“In other words fire powers. I’m sure that will

work well for him.” Her face eased up and she

motioned as if she knew what he was talking about.

Kane paused before looking at Lexis, who was

now smiling.

“Third on the list have Ryder, you know him

be,er than I do, and so what do you suggest?”

“Is electric powers an option?” Lexis asked with

curiosity in her eyes.

Kane looked at her with thought, “Yes it is, but

why so?”

“Because this one day when I was at his place-“

Kane cut her off as she took a drink from her glass

while casting her a,ention to the side.

“You were at his house?”

“Yes I was, is that a problem?”

“Well, nah… not at all”

“As I was saying, at his house he was messing

with wires trying to work the damaged ke,le or

something, and he received a slight shock, then he

made a suggestion and started fantasizing about

having electric powers. So might as well give the guy

what he desires.”
