His Little Secret
Not the type to fit in; she was the girl from the wrong side of the tracks who'd seen too much and wanted to escape her reality. Utterly alone. She dawned a black wardrobe, not because she was trying to make a statement or prove something. She wanted people to stay away. They didn't understand and she didn't want them to try, she hated two things above all weakness and her peers desperate attempt to fit in with each other; which in her mind went hand in hand. Impossible to find a person of substance who was as intellectually stimulating as they were attractive. Nobody here came close to either. so boys weren't a temptation, mostly she looked on into the mystery of the future. She always felt out of step with her age group even though she was the youngest in her class she still felt unmatched, nobody understood her brilliant mind nor could relate to her pain. So alone.
Her brother was 5yrs older. A high school drop out. He was however ridiculously talented in art and music, he could teach himself any instrument and be brillaint, his drawings and paintings were astonishing. He would get rides from time to time as he had no license or car, but in this tiny town why would you need one anyways?
She was only 14, but entering her freshman year. Dressed in black, sitting in the back with metal blasting through her headphones she leaned against the window and starred out aimlessly. Just picking up her brother, a typical day.
There he stood, towering over everyone else, all black clothes, ripped jeans, long shaggy black hair, cigarette between his lips. She noticed him immediately and there was an instant lump in her throat. She gulped and starred at him in awe, she'd never seen a guy like this before in this boring little town. He just moved here from southern California. And was already very tight with her brother. The sound of the van door sliding open snapped her out of a daze. She looked to her brother.
"Who's he?" she asked trying to hide the excitement in her voice.
"Anthony, he just moved here," he stated and sat down starting to chatter with the other adults in the front.
She stared out the window at him as they drove off, luckily the rain and tint made everyone on the outside of the van unaware of her gawking, which was very out of character for her.
A few weeks later her brother stopped by with him to introduce him to everyone, by now they were best friends, both musicians loved the shred on the guitar together and started a band.
"Anthony is going to be keeping an eye on you two this year," he announced to the girl and her older sister.
"Like a brother in my absence, I'm sorry to miss high school with you both, but feel free to hang around Anthony if you need a brother for the day,"
By then they were used to Anthony and he was fitting in like yet another brother, like all their brothers good friends were.
