Chapter Three

My body jerked back in shock and split second, I put the note under my bra strap and acted like I was adjusting it when I saw Moriarty, just … standing. Like as if he was waiting for an explanation of what happened but all I could do was mouth out the words until I felt my breath catching back to me.

“What’s wrong Moriarty?”I asked as I started to walk to my desk

“Not much, I just wanted to ask what he told you back there?”All I could do was force the words out of my mouth and lie to him,” The idiot just tried to blackmail me using my private life”, I said as I tried to sound as normal as possible.

All I could do is question myself, why do I suddenly feel that everyone is after Kier? I know that he’s an ***, but I don't feel like it. From the time I came out of the interrogation room, all I could feel was his eyes watching me from everywhere.

Later on, I finally caught my partner, Moriarty following me as I left. {He must have seen that sticky note before...}

I tried to lose him without drawing attention or raising his suspicions, as I took a turn into a dark narrow alley, I felt a tug on my hand which pulled me with my mouth muffled. Normally my reflex reactions would have possessed me but somehow I was comforted by the scent that was surrounding me and holding me close.

It was the heavy smell of raw cinnamon with vanilla -it was the only and best thing that I could breathe in. I woke up out of my fantasy to hear the voice of Kier.

“Are you done with sniffing me already?”, he told me in his low, deep hoarse voice.

“Well, I’m sorry for that - I am just surprised that you smell so different from your attitude and arrogance...” I said as I could feel a small smirk playing on my lips as I tried to hide it.

I could sense a comeback from him as he had a menacing look upon his face.

{Shit...did I take the joke too far? Why is he not saying anything?}All these thoughts started running through my head as I was worried in case I upset him even though I am not the type to worry about what others think. This might sound cold as a detective but I needed to grow some tough skin.

Kier then slammed his huge hand against the wall that created an earthquake in my heart and trapping me from escaping, he soon started to close the distance between us as he says,” You’re welcome to sniff me anytime ….as long as you will be able to pay for the consequences” he whispered in my ear.

I soon started to give him a death stare signal, which meant ‘you better back the hell up before I slap the living daylights out of you so hard that you won’t be able to wake up the next morning.’

I could see that he felt threatened by this look as he started to put his hand down.

“SO -how do you do it? Like manipulating others into giving them what you want?” I said as I started to fix my disheveled clothes from running.

“If you think I meant to manipulate you...that was never my intention and I truly apologize for starting off on the wrong note with you-it’s just that you  are the only good detective that is still caring.”He says as he ushers me the way to the car with his head down.

No matter how many times I look at him-I still can’t tell what he’s thinking, but whenever our eyes meet-I feel like I am an open book, all my secrets are exposed and he has the upper hand on me for that…

He takes me to his house which is ten stories tall.

I should have known, rich shitheads I said as I muttered under my breath.

“Now, Mr. Kier, what do I need-” Before he could even finish my sentence, he cuts me off with a charming smile that breaks into my heart.

“You can call me Marcus,” He says as he goes into one of the rooms.”Care to follow me? We can talk for so long.”

“Sure, no problem” I answered as I started to follow him.

“What’s going on Marcus?”I ask as I could see the distant look on his face.

Is this how he is?

I started to question myself until he broke the silence.

“I lied to you before in the interrogation room-In fact I just lured you here because ...” His voice started to trail off as he came closer to me closing up the distance between us, as he reached behind me and locked his room door-wait…

THIS IS HIS ROOM?!?!?!

He has me wrapped around his pinkie finger just like how he did in the Police Station. He leans in to whisper in my ear…

“The lady who was killed...She worked under me, I hired her as an accountant but she found something and reported it to my competent so I fired her… I didn’t know this was going to happen .”

I stretched out my palms to pull his face closer and talk in a quiet voice.”You...don’t blame yourself… you didn’t kill her” I said in a low, comforting voice.

He then gently holds my hand in his as he slowly puts his head up. I soon realized… WE ARE TOO DAMN CLOSE TO EACH OTHER.

As alarms started to go off in my head. I have never been this close to anyone like this before.
