When The Sun Rises On Your Smile

"Good mornin'!"

A Secretary, more like a friend or the girl I like, keeps wanting me to smile. She's like a free spirited girl.

When my parents died, I never once smiled again. It was like I forgot to smile.

"GOOD. MOR. NING!!!! Wake up sir! Your almost late for work!"

"It will only took me one and a half hour to go to work. And I have a car and a driver."

We went on a vacation. Just the two of us. Millie and me.

"Sir!! How about we took a picture?"

But I didn't smiled.

Millie tried making me smile by making a lot of attempts. But in the end..she failed.

"It's almost lunch time, where should we eat?"

"Then, Edward..where shall we go next?"

We went to the mountains, oceans, and more. I was happy inside to keep seeing her smile. While she enjoy the night lights at our hotel room, I secretly took a picture of her and save it to my phone.

"Edward, I...I.."

"what is it?"

"Is there something wrong?"

"No! I think I'm hungry."

"Then I'll buy something."

"Sure. Thanks."

I knew there's something she wants to tell me.

In the morning

"Millie? Where are you? Millie? I gotta call her."

Millie disappeared when I woke up.

I ask the staff at the hotel that we were staying at if they saw Millie. And said they didn't.

I called her so many times. But she won't answer my call.

And i finally found her. At the place full of flowers. It was only four o'clock when I found Millie.

"Millie!" I shouted so loud so she could hear me. I ran to her as fast as I can.

And I saw her crying, saying "I want to see you smile. Could you please smile for me? Just once."

"What happened? Please explain to me. You suddenly left without saying a word. I was worried about you."

"...Do you..like me?"

Like always...I can't answer her question. It's like confessing to her. My pride...don't want to lose. What should I do?

"You don't like me then. You kept silent for a moment there."

But this time is different! I am willing to confess even if I have to lose my pride! I know I can do it! I can feel that she has a feeling for me too!

"Then...that means I can rest now right?"

"Yes...you can rest now..you must have been tired.."

"I mean..I can rest in peace now right? Edward?"

"What..what do you mean? You promised! You promised to be the only girl I'll love! What do you mean? What do you mean you can finally rest in peace???!!!!!!!!"

"I'm...glad..to have seen your smile..before I go.

She collapsed after saying all of that. I panic..I didn't know what to do. I could only shout "help!". There was a passerby that heard me and immediately called the ambulance. I was shaking..

One week has passed..we hold a proper funeral for her. Grandpa explained everything to me...Like her illness..and that she's afraid of falling in love.

Two years later...

I haven't move on from her. I visit her grave once in a week..and have a chat with her grave.

Grandpa arrange me a lot of blind dates. But he gave up in the end. Because Grandpa knew that I'll just say the same "I told her she will be the one and only girl I'll love my whole life."
