RSOF 01

I  just woke up one day and I can see a red string attached on the pinky of the people around me, the string shows the fate of the people around me. The red string connects a person to their fated one.

I am the only one who can see these strings.

I was in college that time when I started seeing the red string that connects the people around me to their fated one.

There is someone whom I have really loved since childhood, when I learned what those red strings meant I suddenly wanted to see if our strings are connected. The one I'm talking about is my childhood friend and also my best friend, Bryle. I never told him about my feelings because I'm scared that if I tell him our friendship would fall apart so I'm fine with just being friends with him.

Him being in a long time relationship was the more reason for me to stop this feelings I have for him.

I am here now having a drink with my two close friends in a coffee shop before going to work. I seem like a third wheel right now because of how affectionate they are right now, well I can't do anything about it since it's been a while since they last saw each other. I really feel jealous when I see these two because we're the same age but I still haven't gotten in any relationship.

Maybe it's still not the time for me to be in a relationship.

“ Don’t you have any plan on having any relationship, Clair? ” my friend Alaine said

“ Well, relationships don't come just because you wanted to and I'm not into being committed to anyone right now. ”

“ You're right but do you really not want to be in any relationship right now or you still have lingering feelings for that boy? ” she said

I just stayed silent at her question and just shrugged it off.

“ Why do you even want me in a relationship? Are you already tired of me being a third wheel to the two of you? ”

“ You could say that but I also want you to experience being in love. ” Alaine said

“ We're just worried that you could be single forever. ” Axel, Alaine's boyfriend said

“ Don't worry if I ever got a boyfriend you guys would be the first one to know, okay? ”

“ Okay. ” they said in unison

They are now back again on being so clingy to each other. Sometimes I wonder why they can't just get married already since they already found each other. I saw how strong their relationship was. I saw how they face all the obstacles in their relationship together. I saw the growth of these two souls who are meant to be together forever.

Everyone could say that they are really into each other without seeing the red strings. Those strings are just one thing that indicates that they are for each other.

After staying for a while in the coffee shop we decided to go on our ways. I am now at work doing some paperworks that needs to be submitted at the end of the week.

I spend days just like any person — wake up, eat, take a bath, hangout with friends, eat, go to work, eat, go home and then sleep. My life is a routine that makes me tired of it. Sometimes I just want the day to end so that I could go home and just spend my time all by myself.

Time has passed and it's already time for lunch so I decided to go for a quick lunch in the cafeteria here in the building. It would just be a hassle if I would go out when I could just eat here. Some of my co-workers already left a while ago and I am the last one to go for lunch. They asked me to join them but I declined their offer since I am still doing something.

I am not a loner or introverted, it's just that I am doing something when they ask. I don't particularly like being alone but I also don't particularly hate being with people. It all just depends on how I feel, I guess? Even I myself wasn't sure, how funny!

I am busy having lunch all by myself in a far corner of the cafeteria for no particular reason. I just want to eat without any disturbance.

Only a few people are here in the cafeteria and there are others who are getting ready to get back to work again. You can hear the chattering of the others from where I am when suddenly it becomes quiet, to the point where all you can hear are the sound of footsteps. I didn't bother looking up to see who might be this person who came that makes the whole cafeteria quiet. It's not that I'm interested, it's just that food is more important. I also need to finish quickly here so I could finish my work on time and leave work on time. 

I don't really like working overtime because I believe that the time that I would spend after work is for myself. I already have a certain amount of time for my work and by the time it finishes it would be the time I allotted to spend for myself. I can't just work all my life, I also need to do something that I want and love.

I was silently eating my food when someone suddenly sat across from me. I looked up to see who dares to disturb me while enjoying these foods in front of me. The moment I looked up my forehead creased because I don't know who that person is. 

I raised my eyebrow at him and asked why he was sitting there but he just smiled at me.

“ It's me. ” he said with a smile on his face

My forehead creased more with what he said. I was trying to remember if I ever met him before when he suddenly spoke again.

“ You seem to have forgotten who I am so let me introduce myself again. ” he said while smiling

He extended his hand asking for a handshake so accepted it.

“ My name is Sandro. ” he said

I really can't remember him even though he introduced himself again so I just said my sorry because I don't really remember who he is. 

I looked at my watch and saw that it's already time to go to work and I was already done eating. I decided to leave and go back to work but before that I said my sorry again to the guy named Sandro. 

I also invited him to meet tomorrow in this place so that I could treat him as a sign of my apologies for not remembering who he is. I really felt bad for not remembering that's why I invited him to eat with me at tomorrow's lunch.

When I start my work in the afternoon there are times when I lose focus while working because I'm trying to remember where I met him before.
