Chapter 2 - The Once Fragile Strings I Grasped

...Once,...

...You were the sun I worshipped,...

...The blinding light I orbited the dawn and dusk,...

...But the ray you emitted wasn't mine alone to claim for,...

...Undignified I am for coveting a light belonging to none....

...-Sweet Destruction....

Love at first sight, an immediate infatuation that spread warmly through his chest, stretching phantom hands to jumble his mind.

It was a beautiful destiny, binding two youth together as a fated pair.

Momentarily or not wasn't their main concern at that time as love replaced all priorities in the empty skull of the young boys completely engrossed with love.

The boy had snatched everything away... his heart, his soul, his everything had been led away from the hook of his nose by the radiant exuberance he exuded.

He admitted.

Perhaps he's been blinded since because he never seemed to cease in admiring him even for nothing.

Hah, he never could bring himself to condemn his beloved, not the scantiest bits.

But he also knew, a relationship between someone so dissimilar that's like chalk and cheese made a mismatched duo --- they simply weren't meant together.

His instinctive gut feeling whispered him each regrets he'd face for acquiescing to his desire. But it never was loud enough to leave him shaking in fear like quivering leaves nor was it loud enough to bind him in compliance.

The thing he fret most was that... one day, he's going to wish that their path had never intertwined, unfamiliar like a stranger.

Was their ending to lead him wishing so, how miserable he would be...

He had even once thought, would they somehow wound up as the next tragic Romeo and Juliet?

He fixed a hard-to-determine smile at the light ceiling and its white wallpaper. His paper-thin hands injected with the cannulas of Peripheral IV swept over the cheek that had lost its weight.

The sensation of the 32-carat diamond ring careened initiating contact with his cheek lingered still.

Judging the way his head was tilted to the side enduring impact from the slap, even mere spectators may apprehend the intensity.

However, there's no mistaking the ringing din in his ears from his flesh being blatantly slapped.

Yet the sole thing the strokes managed to engrave was the physical searing red handprint, spread clear on his left side.

A nick formed on the corner of his rosy lips. Her jeered remarks and pressuring behest of vanishing from her son's sight caused him more anguish than did the slap marks.

Reminding him again and again of this so-called great 'taboo' he's committing. Perhaps it had always been true perhaps not.

As if turning a blind eye to the truth, he kept silent, not denying but also not acquiescing to it. He dared do nothing or even anything...

Dismissing her cursings, he worked a smile on the worn-out features.

Yet another layer of white bandage was woven by his hands, gently draping his heart that bled sorrowly from the phantom damage.

The tattered condition it's in after being mend times and times again was like a shattered glass put together, another fracture and it'll fall to pieces.

The wills were now the sole toughness left in his carcass of heart.

He had understood by heart how his beloved weren't his equal, he's unfitting of him. He won't deny that.

Thus after deeming so, he sought in making amendments for his past err, determine to wipe his slate clean.

Bearing the struggles for others in hope of burying the hatchet with him, persevering his resolution utterly by the sole light of his naive hope.

In no time, the once fiend had refined his behaviour, being polished himself anew wholly for the green light from the blue-blooded ones.

He burst out into a laughing fit, not at the others but himself. Not restoring an ounce of care even if he's seen maniac.

His lack of guile and callowness left him amazed, was the current 'he' to tweak into the past.
