Chapter 4:The Other Side

AFTER SOME HOURS.

"Excuse me ma'am".

"Good evening,how may I help you?",

"Please, I'm here to see Sandra Aidlers"I said to the nurse at the reception.

"Okay,First room on your right,that way",she replied pointing to her left.

"Thank you",I replied.

I got to mom's room and mom is just there lying down with an oxygen mask on her face.The tears I've been holding in since I got to the hospital poured out uncontrollably.

"Mom, I'm sorry,this is all my fault I shouldn't have lied about that day"I said among sobs.

I knelt beside her bed and sobbed.

"This is all my fault,I'm sorry",I mumbled repeatedly.

I got home exhausted and light- headed from the excess crying.My phone rang,due to the tiredness I didn't bother checking the person calling I just picked the call.

"Hello",I said weakly into the phone.

"Hello,Hannah are you okay?",a soft soothing voice replied.

I checked the name on the screen and it said unknown.

"Who are you?"I asked.

"I'm at the door, please come open the door for me, please",the voice replied.So soothing,so nice.

"Please",the voice repeated.

Without hesitation I opened the door and to my surprise the guy that is responsible for the current state that I am in is standing right there.Holding a phone and wearing a stupid worried expression.I made to close the door but he held it.

"Leave",I said.

"Look please listen to me",he tried to talk but I shunned him.

"Leave please".

"I'm sorry",he said holding my hand.

I scoffed and I jerked my hand away from his.

"Your apologies won't heal her",I replied walking away from him.

He entered my house and he closed the door.I have no idea why I let him in.

I sat on the nearest couch to me and I rubbed my head,starting with another round of tears.

"I'm sorry,It wasn't me I swear, please understand",he said.

"Understand what exactly?huh? understand what?I don't even know you,you just popped out of nowhere threatening me and now my mother is on the brink of death thanks to you",I said crying harder.

"Please stop crying, I'll explain everything to you later,just stop crying",he said soothingly."I'm sorry okay".

"You know what?I should have reported to the police ever since I ran into you at school,I wouldn't be in all this,mom would have probably been at home now,we'll be eating popcorn and watching TV",I said still crying.

"Just trust me okay, please,I know you are in no state to trust me but please just trust me",he said with his calm and soothing voice.

What the hell am I doing?,he isn't supposed to be here he is the reason you are in this state.

"Stop telling me to trust you, you are a bad person and I hate you!",I shouted standing up."Get out!"

He stood up and he smiled.

"Come here",he said stretching out his arms.

"No and leave my house now!",I yelled.

He walked closer to me

"Stay back",

He walked closer and closer.

My voice is getting croaky and my head is aching badly from the crying.

He slowly pulled me into a hug.

"I'm sorry,very sorry, extremely sorry, what other sorry do you want me to say?",he said softly.

"Please, I'm sorry",he added.

I didn't resist or push him away.I stayed in his warm arms and he sang softly in my ears.Sweet soft melodious lyrics bounced in my ears calming my nerves,

"Why did you have to do that?I barely know you",I mumbled with my croaky voice.

"I promise to explain everything to you,I promise",he replied softly.

My eyelids got heavy and I could hardly keep my eyes open as I felt sleepy.

"By the way, what's your name?",I asked sleepily with my eyes closed.

I could feel his smile against my hair.

"Jay..."the rest were muffled as I fell deep into sleep.
