Our three hours were up and I yelled triumphantly. "So long, detention!" I yelled as I stepped out of the class. Sarah and Jeremy fought their way out of school, not even noticing my presence.
Nobody ever noticed my presence, anyway. No big deal.
I was close to the door, when I realized I had forgotten my English textbook on the table.
I ran back to the class because I was freaking scared. I didn't like how empty and silent the school was. It felt haunted.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps. I froze so the alleged ghost wouldn't figure out my presence.
The footsteps faded, and I sighed quietly. I took the textbook and kept it in my backpack. There was only one problem. What if the ghost decided to come back?
Okay, the exit was close... sorta.
Open the door and run away. How hard can it be?
I tip-toed to the door and opened the door. The coast was clear. Pfft. Ghost. Maybe it was a random student.
I laughed it off and started walking out. I stopped in my tracks when I heard something weird. It wasn't weird, just not supposed to be heard in school by this time. Okay, it was weird.
Cheap thrills by Sia.
It was coming from the art studio. I wanted to run away, but something pushed me to the door of the studio, which was half-opened. I pushed it open and I sighed. It was just Kayden.
Kayden?
"Why are you still here?" I asked, crossing my arms.
He noticed my presence when he was done painting, and that was about five minutes after I asked the question. I really wanted to see what he painted.
"Oh, you're still here." He said with an unenthusiastic tone, and I rolled my eyes.
"You're mad because I called you boring, and I'm sorry." I apologized as he stopped the music. Chandelier by Sia was playing then. He was probably a Sia lover. Me, too.
"I'm not mad. Aren't you supposed to be on your way home?" He asked. "I could ask you the same thing. I just wanted to see your masterpiece." I said. "It's not my masterpiece. I don't have one." He said.
"Why not?" I asked. "They're not good enough and worth it." He said, showing me his painting. I gasped.
"I'm not really a fan of paintings but this... it's really good." I commented.
It was the painting of a half-demon, half-angel. It looked so awesome, I could hang it on my wall.
"You think so?" He asked. "I know so! But people say all paintings have meanings, what does this one mean?" I asked. "It's like someone's personality. You can't be good all the time, neither can you be bad all the time. It also shows mood swings. It's a dedication to all bipolar people around the world." He explained.
"Aww, that's sweet. Especially considering the fact that you're not bipolar." I said. "Well..." he trailed off. My eyes widened in realization. "Oh, I'm so sorry--"
"For what?" He asked, grinning. "I don't know. It's good that you painted this. It should be your masterpiece." I suggested. "Nah, wanna keep it?" He asked.
"You want me to?"
"If you want to."
"Gladly. I'll remember you whenever I see it." I said, taking the painting and staring at it.
I looked up and saw that he was taking a picture of me.
"What?" I asked. "I'll paint it." He replied. "Make sure to send it to me." I said and he took two steps towards me.
The problem? We were too close and my feet wouldn't move.
Don't you dare burst my privacy bubble!
He took another step forward and my legs charged. As I stepped back, I slipped on spilled paint and fell.
"At least this time I didn't cause the fall. Clumsy, much?" He asked, offering me his hand... again.
"Clumsy as hell. Plus, you spilled the paint, so you kinda did cause the fall." I replied, taking his hand and he pulled me up.
"Sorry. Well, then it's clumsy meets bipolar. It's not so bad, is it?" He asked. "It's worse than you think." I replied, laughing softly.
"I know. I just... see you tomorrow." He said and left.
I would have questioned that if he hadn't told me he was bipolar. Or maybe he just didn't want to talk to me?
I shrugged and walked out of the school, jumping at every sound I heard. There could still be ghosts.
