Agreement

Leina was stunned upon hearing the man's request. He, Ezekiel Hayes, wanted her to be his pretend wife. A plain girl. Leina Davis who doesn't have anything special about her. A girl that no matter how much she tried, she couldn't seem to get anything right.

"I-I don't know. . ." Leina whispered.

Zeke looked at her boredly with those eyes, "Don't be afraid. We just have to pretend in front of the child. Ofcourse we'll have to set limitations and such."

She felt her heart beat slowing down. "O-okay then, I'm all ears." Leina walked forward and sat on one of the chair in front of the man. Zeke got out a piece of paper and a pen which made Leina's eyes almost gauge out. The pen that Zeke was holding costs five times more than her current salary.

There's no doubt that Ezekiel Hayes can pay her triple. Leina felt a sudden relief, with her new job in the Hayes' family, she can finally be at ease with the expenses from her brother's treatment. Finally.

Leina and Zeke spent almost an hour discussing their contract. It wasn't complicated as Leina thought. She would just do the responsibility of a doting mother to Rory and a doting wife to Zeke at times. There will be no unconcentious physical contact between the two of them unless the situation requires them to.

"So you're my boss now." Leina told Zeke, smiling. "What should I call you then. Sir? Boss? Young Master?" She joked.

Zeke just looked at her dead in the eyes.

"You may call me whatever you want." He demanded. "But when my daughter's around, you should always call me by my name."

Leina's eyebrow shot up. Whatever I want? Leina thought. Would he be okay if I call her jerk? Or crazy? Or prick?

She quickly pursed her lips together and pretended to further analyze the contract in her hand when Zeke shot her daggers. She had a feeling that her new boss can read what she was thinking amd that gave her the creeps.

After finishing up everything, Leina got up and quickly went outside the office. She felt suffocated inside. She was very intimidated by her new boss' presence.

Leina asked permission to get her things from her current apartment as she was also required to live in the mansion with the kid. Not that she mind. Afterall, she can get free accommodation and free food. She gets to also lounge freely whenever Rory's at school. She can take it as a vacation since she doesn't have any fulltime job at the moment.

She was about to step outside the mansion when she heard a piercing cry from the top part of the stairs. She looked up and saw the little girl bawling her eyes out while holding a stuffed animal.

"Noooo! Mommy!" Rory cried out and run down the stairs as quickly as she can. "Don't leave meeee!"

Leina, alarmed that the kid could get hurt ran towards her. "Don't run down the stairs! You might fall down!" She scolded the kid but the little girl just hugged her leg tightly and she wouldn't stop crying.

She was disoriented for a while but quickly caught up with her senses. She carefully lifted the child and embraced her. Rory wrapped her little arms around Leina's neck tightly that Leina had a trouble breathing. She gentle caressed the the child's back as she swayed side by side.

"Hush now sweetheart." Leina whispered, trying to calm the child. "Why are you crying?" She asked, her voice was so soft and full of gentle. Leina did not know that she could sound that soft, it must be her maternal instinct kicking in.

"B-because you're leaving m-me, Mommy." Rory answered in between her sobs. Leina felt a fang of pain stabbed her chest by the kid's answer.

Feeling her legs getting tired, Leina sat down at the first chair she saw, still cradling Rory on her lap. She gently wiped the little girl's tears and planted a soft kiss on her forehead.

"I'm not leaving you, love." She said endearingly. "I'm just going to my old house and get some things then I'll come back here again."

"C-can I come with you, Mommy?"

Leina was about to answer when Zeke suddenly came out of nowhere and stood in front of them.

"Sweetheart, let's go." Zeke whispered gently to his daughter, stretching his arms. "Your Mom has to do something first."

Leina felt her heart beat faster hearing those words from Zeke. She unconsciously looked up to him which she regretted after. She felt her cheeks heated up glancing at the smiling and gentle face of her boss. Gone was the uptight and cold man she talked to earlier, the man in front of her was tender and seemed like a loving father. Feeling embarrassed by her own thoughts, Leina quickly stopped herself from thinking anything related to her boss.

"No. I wanna go with Mommy!" Rory protested and hugged her more tightly. "Please Mommy! Please Mommy!"

Leina glanced back at her boss, not knowing what to do. Zeke looked at her with those thinking eyes and then sighed. He sat next to her and caressed Rory's small back. His fingers lightly brushed against her hand which sent tiny bolts of electricity through her body.

"Okay, sweetheart. We'll go with Mommy." Zeke decided. "But we'll have to stay in the car, okay?"

Rory lifted her tiny face and beamed at her Dad. It was a chilly night outside so Zeke ordered a helper to get Rory's jacket. Zeke was the one who decided to drive as he was feeling sorry for the already sleeping driver who was so tired driving around town all day, helping with finding Aurora.

When they got to the place, Leina was the only one who got out of the car. She was about to enter her place when she passed by her landlady in the hall. She told her that she was planning on moving as she was needed back home.

"That's really unfortunate, Leina." Her landlady said when she told her about her brother's condition. "I hope everything gets better soon."

"I hope so too, Mrs. Byrban."

After talking to the old lady for a while, Leina quickly packed some of her clothes and essential. A driver will help her with her other stuff but she could do it the next day.

"I'm sorry, I had a little talk with my landlady." She reasoned out when she got back in the car. "We can go now."

Noticing that the kid was falling asleep at the back seat, Leina quickly got out of the passenger's seat and sat next to Rory. She carefully guided the child and offered her lap for a pillow. And she was right, as soon as Rory was comfortable enough, she started to close her eyes and went to sleep.

"Everything's good?" Zeke asked, checking them in the mirror.

Leina nodded a little bit and then smiled at him. She did not know if she was just making it up or she saw her boss blushed.
