Chapter 2: Meeting

Unknown's POV

I headed back to my home, it was an old family home in the countryside. My mother and father died years ago, and it was just me and my grandma before she passed away two years ago, now this house belonged to me. Soon me and Violet, I smiled at the thought. I shut the car door and went to the truck. I picked up everything, rope, handcuffs, food, knives, and a gun, just in case. I grabbed them all and brought them into the house. It wouldn't be too long now, these months would pass fast, and I still had a lot to do. I unlocked an old room, getting it ready for Violet, I wanted to make sure she would be comfortable.

Violet's POV

I awoke to the sound of someone knocking on the door. My heart jumped at the sudden sound. Who is knocking at the door this early? I groaned and looked at the time. "I'm late!" I yelled, jumping out of bed, then I heard the voice of Alex, "Would you open the door already," She called. I walked out in my pajamas and opened the door. "Thank god I came this way, you're already late to class," she laughed.

She was dressed nicely with her blond hair in gentle waves, tied in a loose ponytail. I gave her a scowl and rushed to get ready. I can't believe I overslept. This is what I get for reading all those comics. I ran into the bedroom changing into different clothes, then ran back to the door grabbing my shoes, noticing Alex digging around in my fridge, "Don't eat all my food now," I called. "I won't," she said, her voice muffled. I looked towards her, seeing her mouth stuffed with who knows what, I shook my head at her, it hasn't been five minutes, and she's already taking stuff.

"Alright, let's go," I opened the front door, waiting for Alex. She rushed past me, and we headed out. Alex had a car so we could get there quicker, we both went to college at the same place, but these months would be stressful due to finals coming up. Classes would be ending in May, but most finals would be finished in April, I hoped to do well. I was going for a veterinary assistant degree, and Alex wanted to be a dentist, which is ironic considering how much junk food she eats. I smiled at the thought, Alex drove to the college and parked the car.

We got out and rushed to our separate classes. Time passed slowly as I sat in class, I wasn't mad about that, I liked my classes and enjoyed learning more about my career. When class ended, I headed outside and waited on school grounds, I found a bench under some trees and decided to wait there till Alex got out in about an hour.

I placed my bag on the table and finally relaxed. Oh, I almost forgot, I have to call my mom today. I grabbed my phone and dialed her number. It wasn't long before i heard her gentle voice come through. "Hi, Sweetie. I was waiting for your call." I smiled. It's been a while since I talked to her, so it felt good to finally hear her voice. "Hey Mom, how have you been?" We talked for a while, catching up with each other.

"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, I'll be going to a music festival in a couple of months with some friends." It was silent for a moment before she spoke. "A music festival? With whom exactly?" I could already hear the change in her voice. She was worried.  "Mom, don't worry, I'll be with Alex and one of her friends." I could hear her sigh before speaking, "Okay, just promise that you'll stay together at all times. Don't get lost."

"I know, mom, I promise." I doodled on my notepad while we continued talking. Time seemed to pass quickly, and it was almost time for Alex to get out. "Mom, I'll have to go in a bit, Alex is almost out of class."

"Okay sweetie, remember to come back on your birthday, your sister misses you." I smiled, remembering my little sister, Abigail. "I will mom, I miss her too. Tell her that for me, will you." It was hard not being able to see my little sister, with her big brown eyes and her dirty blonde hair. While she got her brown-blonde hair from my mom, I got a golden brown color from my dad. "I will, I love you okay, call me again soon."

"Okay, mom, I love you too. Tell dad and Abby that, too." We said our goodbyes, and I hung up, just in time for Alex to run out of the school screaming my name. I swear, she acted like a little kid sometimes. I smiled and got up as she started running towards me. Other students stared at her weirdly, "Calm down Alex, why are you so excited?" By the time she got to me, she was out of breath. "Oh my god, Violet! A hot new guy just joined my class!" she practically yelled. "Alex, stop being so loud." I grabbed her arm, dragging her a little farther from the students. Her eyes shifted behind me, and a big smile appeared on her face. "Look, Violet, he's right there." she pointed to the doors of the school.

I didn't need to ask who. A tall guy with light brown hair and green eyes walked out from the door. I'll admit, he was pretty hot. " Am I right or what?" I laughed at her enthusiasm, "Yes you're right."

"I knew you'd agree. His name is Sebastian." She watched as he left the school grounds.       "Alright, no more staring. Let's go get some food." I grabbed my stuff, and we left. "Where should we eat, I kinda want some noodles or something."

"Hmm, what if we just buy the stuff and make it at your place. We could have a sleepover!"

By the time we got back to my apartment, it was already 5 pm. We carried the bags into the elevator and to the room. I got my keys and went to unlock the door, but the door was already unlocked. "That's weird, I swear I locked my door this morning," I said, turning to Alex. "Hmm, are you sure, we did rush out this morning." I tried to recall, I thought I locked it. "I thought so, but maybe I'm wrong." I pushed open the door, and we walked inside. I scanned the room but didn't see anything different.

We put the bags down and I walked to my room, everything looked the same. I looked at the bed and noticed a dip in the bed sheets, almost like someone was standing there. I looked up at the hanging light above my bed but didn't notice anything. I sighed, walking out of the bedroom, it's probably nothing. I walked back to the kitchen, seeing Alex beginning to cook the noodles.

Soon enough, she was done, and we sat started putting different things in them. I loved spicy, so I opted for some chili garlic oil, we both put some soft boiled eggs in, and we were ready to go. "Alright, what should we watch?" I asked, sitting on the couch. "Hmm... Oh! Let's watch Twilight! I saw that it's on Hulu."

"Again? We watched it the other day."

"We watched the first one, we can watch the second one, please," she begged.

I sighed, "Fine, we can watch it." I handed her the remote, and she smiled, grinning like a little kid.

The rest of the night consisted of eating loads of junk food and binging the Twilight movies.

I groaned as the light shined through the window. "What time is it?" I squinted from the light and reached for my phone. Geez, it's already 12. I looked around and realized I was lying on the couch, Alex was on the opposite side of the couch, leaning on the arm rest. I reached for my glasses, speaking to Alex "Alex, get up. It's already 12." I reached my foot out, pushing her off the couch. She fell on the carpet floor, letting out a groan.

I got off the couch, crouching by her, "Come on, Alex," I said while shaking her.

"Five more minutes," she whined. I sighed and looked around the room. Their were crumbs on the floor and couch, empty chip bags, mostly from Alex, and our empty bowls.

"Five minutes, Alex, that's it, or I'm throwing some water on you." I threatened. She responded with a groan.

I smiled and shook my head. I began picking up the bags of chips and headed to the kitchen to watch the dishes. I walked back to the kitchen, seeing that Alex still hadn't moved.

"Alex!" I shouted. She bolted up with wide eyes. She looked at me with a frown. "Geez, why do you have to yell?" she yawned.

"Get up and help me clean," I watched as she finally stumbled off the couch and started cleaning the table and vacuuming the crumbs.

-

I closed the door after Alex. She had to drive back to her place and get some studying and homework done. I flopped down on the bed after she left. I really don't feel like doing anything today. I grabbed my book and laid down on the couch. I decided today was going to be a lazy day. I began reading, but it wasn't long till my stomach started growling. I could really go for some donuts right now. I sighed, putting my book down. Now my mind was filled with getting donuts, and iced coffee.

I got up, dragging my feet to the bathroom. I hopped in the shower feeling the warm water wake me up. After finishing I hopped out of the shower dressing in some ripped black jeans and a maroon blouse. Grabbing the trash bag on the way out I began walking to the elevator. I thought today was going to be a lazy day but I just can't resist donuts, and coffee. I got in the elevator heading down. Once there I threw the trash away and made my way to the coffee shop that was just a ten minute walk. The sun was high and warm, but there was a nice breeze that kept the air cool. I walked past several groups of people and some couples. In a way, I kinda wished to have a relationship with someone. Part of me wanted someone to spend my days with, feeling the comfort of being with someone, knowing they were there for me and doing the same for them. Another part of me liked the alone time, and doing what I wanted.

I looked at the cars driving past, and finally I saw the sign of the coffee shop. I hurried into the shop, seeing the long line. The sweet smell of coffee and the donuts made my stomach grumble. Damn, this is going to take so long. I looked at the menu deciding to get an iced caramel macchiato a slice of apple pie and a chocolate filled donut . I waited 10 minutes before it was my turn to order. I got my donuts and waited for them to make my coffee. Once done I thanked the person and took a sip of coffee. Just as I turned for the exit, I ran into someone. My coffee fell from my hand, I flinched as it fell to the floor, the coffee went everywhere and onto my shoes.

"Oh God, I'm so sorry," I looked up, surprised to see those same green eyes.. He looked flustered grabbing some napkins from the counter. He kneeled down trying to wipe the liquid from my shoes. I moved back pushing my glasses up, "It's okay, it was just an accident." I ushered for him to get back up. Just then an employee came out with a mop. "I got it." Before I could offer to help, Sebastian pulled me out of the way. "I'm sorry, let me get you another one." Just as I was about to refuse he was already at the register paying.

He walked back to me, "I'm really sor-" I held my hand up to stop him from apologizing again. "You don't have to keep saying sorry, it was partially my fault too." He looked at me bashfully, a pinkish blush rising on his face. Cute was the first thought that hit me. He really did look cute, it made me want to tease him. "Why don't we sit down while we wait," he suggested. I smiled, "Okay."

We sat at the nearest table, sitting across from each other. "You go to the university near here, right?" he asked. "Yes I do, how did you know?"

"I saw you a couple times yesterday, if it's okay, can I ask what your name is?" he asked his green eyes were shining brightly. I laughed, "It's fine, my name is Violet."

"Your name is Sebastian right? My friend is the one who told me about you. Did you just move here?"

"Yeah, I just moved about two weeks ago, I just got unpacked and my first day was yesterday," he smiled. "How are you liking it so far?" I asked, captivated by his smile.

"It's going okay so far, it's better now." I tilted my head about to ask him what he meant when the cashier yelled, "Number twenty-seven!" Sebastian stood up, getting the drink from the cashier, I followed after him.

He turned around handing it to me. I reached into my pocket grabbing a ten dollar bill. "Here, I told you it was my fault too, you don't have to buy this for me." I went to hand him the bill but he just shook his head. "Nope, I am not taking any money from you." I frowned, waving the bill towards him  but he still refused. "Fine, but I'll get you back next time." I turned, this time carefully looking around before walking out of the cafe.

I heard his footsteps following behind me, "Next time?" I turned around looking at his eyes, noticing how the sun made them look brighter. I looked at his hair seeing the light curls in his caramel brown hair. It took me a second before I realized how close he was and I felt my face heat up, while also realizing what I implied. "Oh, I mean-,"

"That sounds good," Sebastian cut in, "I guess I'll see you next time." He gave me a quick smile and a wave before turning around and walking in the other direction. I stood there for a bit, my face warm. I finally realized how long I was standing there and turned, walking back towards my apartment. I couldn't help the warm fuzzy feeling i felt, for some reason I felt excited to see him again. I shook my head trying to get the thoughts out of my head. I just met the guy and I'm already feeling like this.

I finally reached my apartment. Unlocking the door, I walked in. Taking a sip of my drink, I sat at the table pulling out my donut and pie. I browsed my phone while eating and was soon finished. I went to my bedroom looking for the book I was reading. I looked around the apartment getting frustrated when I couldn't find it. I swear I left it on the couch when I left. I gave up, walking to my bedroom and changing into different clothes.

I opened the drawer pulling out some black sweatpants. I looked for my favorite shirt, it was a black shirt with my favorite bird in the world on it, a white umbrella cockatoo. I searched through the drawer and the closet finding nothing. "Why is everything missing?!" I yelled. There's no way I would lose it, I wore it just last week and I haven't been to Alex's house in a while.

I stood in the middle of the room, confused. Something didn't feel right, how could I lose both those items at the same time. I walked into the living room, I needed to make sure nothing else was missing. I just couldn't ignore the weird feeling.
