Prologue

Despite living in a place full of insults, hatred, and envy, our heroine still fights to live. She never once thought of giving up because she believed that in every aspect of life, there was light, happiness, and hope.

Yes... 'was'.

No matter how hard her life was, she still managed to smile. Every single day. But not anymore.

She has had enough.

She no longer wants to fight. She has lost her hope, her will to live. She destroyed the fantasies she engraved in her mind that 'everything will be okay,' because the only hope she has left was crushed by that same person who gave her that hope.

"I'm sorry," she muttered under her breath, "I couldn't fulfill my promise."

A tear dropped on her cheeks as she looks at the letter she wrote just earlier on her desk.

"I swear, if there would be another chance," she said, "I will fulfill my promise to you."

The night is quiet. No sound was heard after that except for the winds passing by.

The only thing that remained is her body. Her body who she hanged herself after muttering the words, "Goodbye"

"Doc!" screamed a woman.

It was not a horrified scream nor was it a disappointed scream. It was more like a scream full of... longing?

She was conscious, alive. She felt as if the woman screaming for help who cares for her is a strange feeling. She felt as if it is a foreign feeling.

She opened her eyes, looking at a blank white ceiling.

'Where am I?' she thought, 'hospital?'

She looked at her side, a woman is crying. Not far from the woman is a door which was opened by a doctor. The doctor walked towards her.

The doctor asked a lot of things to her but no response was heard. The doctor checked her eyes, her condition, and listed down things he observed. The doctor continued to question the patient, but the patient seemed to be lost. She just looked blankly at the doctor.

To no progress, the doctor left after reassuring the woman that the patient is in good condition but still needs further examination.

"My dear, why aren't you responding to the doctor's questions? Why aren't you talking?" The woman asked her, still crying.

The patient, who still feels lost, just looked at her.

Right. What is happening? Who is this woman? Why am I in the hospital? These are probably the thoughts circling the patient's mind right now.

A sudden 'thud' was heard. What was it? Oh, it was the door shut open by an unfamiliar face of a boy. A boy who proceeds to walk towards her, crying, and held out her hands.

He kneeled and said, "Faye!"

She widened her eyes, unable to process what he just said. Faye? It was unfamiliar to her, a foreign way to call her.

Gathering all the strength she has, she held her breath and finally spit her very first words after her awakening...

"Who am I?"
