A Rainy Day In New York .
This is a cut from the first meet-cute of "The Moment I Met You."
"It was my birthday today, aside from my best friend's wish, who was in Japan currently, the only gift I got was a work shift until 7 p.m. Mom and dad were having their second honeymoon, I guessed they were in Spain at the moment. Although they'd called me at midnight yesterday, I still hoped they would get home soon, well, not because I missed them, but I did not want our house to get robbed. As a low-key introvert, just low-key, it was actually not that bad enjoying my birthday alone. I meant, at least I could have a night of my own.
When I was in high school, having watched all those romantic movies, I had always wanted to walk around the busy Times Squares at night where all the lights cheered up Mr. Dark Gloomy Night. And yet, I didn't manage to do it until my twenty-third birthday that year. Not gonna lie, it was one of the best birthday gifts ever, aside from that that La La Loopsy Doll I got when I was six.
Maybe it was just me but the moon that night was brighter than ever. Watching lines of people crossing the intersection before the street lights turned red was the most satisfying thing, I must admit. Coffee shops, McDonalds, buildings, stores, people, and people. I wandered around hoping the night would never end in this magnificent place. All of a sudden, something cool dropped on my face, sadly it wasn't gold, it was a raindrop. The cold weather silently told me to get a cup of coffee, but I ended up choosing a hot chocolate because I really needed to get that sleep.
Well, the problem was where I could get a coffee, I meant, hot chocolate immediately as my beige coat, my boots, my face, and my hair were all getting wet, should have listened to my mom that morning. Luckily, God heard my wish, a coffee shop was right across the street, I ran over and bought a nice cup of hot chocolate. As I sat down, a person came over to my table, she was my high school friend, we hadn't met since graduation and therefore talked for a long time.
It was 10 when I stepped out of the coffee shop, still had some chocolate left because we'd talked so much that I totally forgot to drink, guessed I got it from my mom. It was late, so I decided to walk home since the street was still packed with people and my house was pretty close. The night was so perfect until this happened.
I was enjoying my hot chocolate cup and a man bumped into me and spilled all of it. My newly bought white turtleneck suddenly had a big brown stain and a chocolate smell. I looked up, this man, no, this guy with a black turtle neck, beige overcoat, and headphones was staying still staring, and smiling, was he. The fact that he looked good did not reduce my anger, in fact, it even triggered me because he did not apologize!
And yes, that's how I met your father. A hot chocolate, a turtleneck, and a rainy day."
