Today is Cersie’s second death anniversary. Two years have passed, but to me, it feels like it was just yesterday. I promised Cersie that I would keep on living, but the pain is too much to bear. I can’t take this anymore.
I’ve decided that today, I’m going to see her and be with her forever.
“Cersie, wait for me,” I whispered to myself as I walked toward the sea.
The rain was cold, the water was cold, but nothing compared to the coldness I felt inside. My heart had grown numb and empty. Once, I could see the world in many colors, but now, everything looked black. There was no hope left for me.
The water had already reached my neck. It was getting harder to breathe. Soon, my entire body was submerged. My lungs burned; every breath felt heavier than the last. I could feel myself sinking deeper into the sea. My eyes slowly closed.
And as they did, I saw a little girl smiling at me beautifully.
Cersie?
Yes, it was Cersie.
I felt like I was being pulled upward. Is this what it feels like to die?
Where would I be taken, to heaven or to hell?
I didn’t care, as long as I could see Cersie again.
My mind went blank. Everything turned B L A C K…
After some time, I heard a voice. It was faint, almost drowned out by the sound of waves.
What was it saying? Was that Cersie’s voice?
Then I felt a sharp pain in my chest. Wait… can a dead man still feel pain?
I slowly opened my eyes. I saw a figure; it was a girl. It was dark, so I couldn’t see her face clearly. Then a beam of light from the sky, perhaps the moon, shone on her face.
She was beautiful. Is she… an angel?
She was saying something to me.
“G-g-g-e-e-t-t-t u-u-p-p-p… G-g-g-e-e-t-t-t u-u-p-p-p…”
What is she trying to say?
I began to hear the crashing of waves again. The girl kept pressing her wrists against my chest, shouting, “Get up! Get up! Get up!”
I gasped. Water burst out of my mouth. I coughed hard, I was alive.
She saved me. “Are you okay?” she asked.
I tried to answer, but no words came out. Then everything faded again as I passed out.
Ciri sighed in relief—she had made it just in time. She was thankful that the man was thin, which made it easier for her to pull him out of the water. He had passed out, but she was sure he was alive.
The rain had stopped, and the moon now shone brightly above them.
She looked at the man carefully. He was tall, maybe around 5’9”. His long, straight hair fell to his shoulders. He had a pointed nose and a beard, a lot of beard. He looked like a hermit… though a little too handsome to actually be one.
He was thin, almost fragile, as if he hadn’t eaten properly in days. Despite his rugged appearance, Ciri could tell that they were about the same age.
