Chapter one

"A mighty pain to love it is,

And ‘t is a pain that pain to miss;

But of all pains, the greatest pain

It is to love, but love in vain,

as you all can see the poet Abraham Cowley had portrayed unrequited love as something that symbolises anguish" I looked at my students while explaining the lesson and as usual, most of them are in their world, I immediately smacked the desk with my ruler, "As some of my students think that this lesson isn't important, why don't we do something else" I said with a smile to my students who's eyes are all focused on me. " We are doomed" I heard some of them say,

" 1500 words about Abraham Cowley and his inspiration in writing the poem about unrequited love, hand me over the complete assignment tomorrow or face the consequences," I told them severely for which the students started to complain,

"But Miss Sienna...we have afternoon classes today, how can we finish it before tomorrow". I signed and then walked towards her, " Okay fine, then the day after tomorrow will be the deadline" I finally said...just then the bell rang informing us that it was the end of school. The students started to pack their belongings while I was starting to arrange mine as well..." Goodbye Miss Sienna " the students greeted me and off they went...

" Marcus, make sure you complete your work " I stopped one of my students and said, Marcus is one of those few students who makes trouble wherever he goes and as the class teacher of the senior students of class eleven, I have quite a lot of responsibility towards him but as usual his only response was rolling his eyes.

I ignored it and started to erase the board, " Miss Sienna.." I turned around startled to find that one of my students was still in class.

" Ohh..yes Gia, why haven't you gone yet?" I asked, Gia unlike others was a very quiet girl and was quite curious about a lot of things..she is the only student who I find less hard to deal with, "I was about to..but Miss Sienna, is an unrequited love something really painful as everyone says? I'm quite confused " I looked at Gia and suddenly I felt the familiar pain in my heart when I remember a particular person, I ignored it and smiled at Gia,

"An unrequited love can be beautiful in its own way as it makes you do ridiculous things which you didn't even know you could do, even if there is pain..an unrequited love is a type of love that has endless potential because as long as something is never even started, you never have to worry about it ending"

Gia kept looking at me for a while after my response and eventually said, " Have you experienced one Miss Sienna?", yet again that familiar pain returned but before I could reply there was a knock on the door, " Miss Sienna, there will be a teacher's meeting right now " It was Bianca..the school's science teacher .." I will come Bianca, thank you .." I said and turned towards Gia, " Gia. it's time to go and please remember to complete the work ", " Sure Miss Sienna..goodbye" Gia responded and took off, I took my books and left the classroom as well.

" what can I say..after so many years I am still experiencing it "

I thought to myself thinking of my student's question earlier.
