Ch 1

Kozume Hitoka, is now a 34 year old with a 6 year old girl. She finished her work early so skips happily to her home but was stopped by a sudden headache midway. She staggered a lot until she finally decided to get a checkup reached the hospital.

She exited the hospital not long after and just stood in the rain for some time while being on cloud 9 since her second pregnancy was confirmed. She goes to her house and hides the report first and starts preparing her kid for the next day’s classes. She did her daily routine, checked her kid’s bag to know if any letter was addressed or something important was there then proceeds to check her rough note only to find some sketches. She smiled and hugged her child praising her.

Kenma soon entered the house only to witness this scene. He just smirked and proceeds to give both of them a hug before going off for a bath.

He came out of the shower only to find everything was laid out perfectly on the dining table , ready to eat. He was a bit shocked but was now used to this. He was still a bit angry tho.

He walks to his wife, shooting draggers at her. “I thought today was my turn to lay out the table? Why are you doing this?” He asked with one hands on the counter and the other on the handle of the fridge blocking her from escaping.

She did something noticeable with her eyes which he noticed but still prevented her from escaping. They quite for a minute or 2 before Rio, their daughter jumped and hung on his neck.

“What are you playing with mummy? Daddy?let me join too please” she begged with a puppy eyes.

He saw this then shot a glare at Hitoka and she avoided it as if it was meant to be. He quickly understood what this meant.

“Hitoka, now you dare to play dirty with me using Rio? Just you wait my dear.” He says with an evil smile. Hitoka jolted and tried to escape but couldn’t even move him by a mm. She gave up.

“You can clean up and do the dishes. I promise.” She said with a swear pose. He just gave out an ugly dissatisfied expression but still agreed to it but didn’t let go of her just yet.

Rio was still clinging to her daddy. He turned only his head a bit towards Rio.

“Rio, baby, whose princess are you honey?” He asks her gently which would be something unexpected even by kuroo and his friends and those who know him well. Hitoka got goosebumps from him tone.

‘What are you scheming now you dirty guy.?’ She thinks but doesn’t say it out aloud.

“I am daddy’s little princess!” Rio exclaimed while he smirked. Rio playing along just means that he succeeded.

“Yes honey. So mama did something wrong so shouldn’t she be punished?” He asks her. She thinks a bit then says a strict “NO!” to her father.

He was taken aback by her words but sighed before saying anymore.

He says “honey, when you do something wrong, doesn’t mama punish you? Like when you spill juice all over the carpet and yourself?”

Rio thinks for a bit revving the scene which happened a couple of months ago and she shakes her head vigorously.

“Mama was scary then! She’s scary when she’s angry!” Rio added much to Hitoka’s disappointment.

‘Please don’t fall for it! He’s playing you Rio!’ Hitoka prays but to no avail. Rio dpfalls for her dad’s tricks.

“So shouldn’t mama be punished for that then?” He asks Rio while grinning about the success of wavering his intelligent daughter.

“But why tho?” Rio asks him.

He sighs but before knows way too well that she’s no easy target to waver like Shouyo.

“So you know mama works and manages a bug company like daddy right?” He says gently dragging his words.

“Ah! Yes I do!” Rio says excitedly.

“You know that mama and I have made plans on taking up chores on alternate days right?” He says.

“Alternate?” Rio questions her dad again.

“Meaning, I will do some house work today while your mom will do them tomorrow and I will do it day after and your mom will do it the day after I do it. Got it?” He asks him daughter.

Rio was deep in thought but then lightened up. “Got it papa. So now you are punishing mom for that is that it?” Rio asks innocently while kenma nods.

‘Damn you kenma! I hate you! You are such a brainwasher’ Hitoka thought grinding her teeth.

Kenma notices this and then pulled out giving Hitoka space to move. He picks his daughter up and goes to make her sit on the chair. He feeds his daughter first since she’s a messy eater and takes a bite himself in between. Hitoka just laughs at this adorable father daughter moment.

“Who knew that the famous ‘cold hearted’, ‘only into games’ guy like Kenma would be a fool for his daughter?” Hitoka asks while looking at Kenma and he just pouts while still feeding Rio.

After dinner, Kenma clears the table and does the dishes while Hitoka helps Rio with her homework. Soon after, kenma comes to the study room to check on them. Rio was just lazing around while Hitoka cleans up the table.

He then proceeds to take Rio out to her bedroom and tucks her in while Hitoka reviews her files and prepares for the next day.

Kenma sits on the bed and starts gaming with a high volume, annoying her.

At one point of time she gets way too annoyed and angry and closes her laptop and everything. She then goes to bed takes her pillow and a blanket and leaves the room leaving Kenma shocked.

‘What is wrong with her today? She would just throw her weak punches at me usually or throw some pillows at me or just take all the blanket to herself. What is going on with her now?’ He thought.

“Now you can enjoy all the gaming you want” she says before slamming the door shut and proceeding to the living room. He was just shocked at one place but ultimately paused his game before going after her.

By the time he processed what was happening, she left the room and make herself comfortable on the couch and lied down while looking through her gaming account status. Before she could do anything else, Kenma came in and grabbed her phone, putting it down on a table. Then he grabbed her blanket and pillow forcefully and went inside. She was pretty confused but was frozen. He came out of the room and lifted her, taking her to their room, gently placing her on the bed.

Before she could process what happened, Kenma was quick to switch off the lights and lies down continuing his game. The TV games made way too much noise than she could usually handle but now that she’s pregnant, it was more the reason that she couldn’t handle any such things.

She tried her best to sleep, but rolled to and fro but to no avail. Kenma did not have any plans to lower the volume or stop gaming. So, she got out of bed and opened the door to go outside. Kenma’s eyes followed her. This time tho, she left the door open and entered the guest room to sleep.

Kenma was pretty annoyed at this then paused his game to do the same thing. But this time around, however, she was already asleep. He just sighed and took her back to their room and laid her down on their bed. He then switched off the TV and went ahead to get some sleep too. He was about to switch of the TV when he noticed something, some sort of paper that was messily placed under the glass table, near the wall.

He switched off the TV and went ahead to take out the paper only to find about her test that she took before coming home. He was confused and happy at the same time, confused as to why she didn’t show him yet but was happy about the news though.

“Just what is going on in that tiny head of yours Hitoka?” He mumbled while pushing a strand of her hair that was falling continuously on her face, tucking it behind her ear and massaging her head while reading and mumbling something.

Hitoka got up to his voice. “Because I am not sure yet.” She answered to his mumbling.

“What do you mean not sure? What are you not sure about? Hitoka?” He asked.

“About the baby.” She said.

“What are you talking about? Of course we are keeping it. Right?” He said while mumbling the last word.

“Yeah we are, but still.....” she was just mumbling this time around.

“So what’s the problem here? I don’t understand.” He says genuinely confused.

“Doctor says it might be complicated since my health is not the best now plus for this.... it might be difficult “ she says. He just keeps quiet.

After a couple minutes of silence, he spoke out again. “So how about we both do work from home until you are perfectly stable? I will get Rio to and fro from school and we can get the dinner done with you instructing me how to cook you know?” At this point he was just desperate.

“You know that won’t work! You can’t cook!” She says.

“Then does that mean....?” He says lighting up a bit and she nods.

“I was planning to have it from the beginning tho¿ what did think I was up to?” Hitoka asks him.

“I thought you didn’t want to have it.” He says worriedly.

“Haha.... no that’s not it. I was just planning on trying to get another appointment tomorrow to get my health checkup done and get consultation from a nutritionist that’s it.” She says a bit awkwardly.

He heaved a sigh of relief and was pretty happy with her decision.

“So I will drop Rio off and come with you for your checkup. Is that fine?” He asks and she nods.

The next day Rio got up earlier than her early bird mom and her lazy *** dad. She went to her parents’ bedroom and pulled her dad’s bun tied hair in an effort to wake him up. Hitoka was undisturbed by all the noises and was sleeping peacefully.

Kenma eventually woke up to all his daughter’s hair pulling and lazed around for a bit before entering the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

“Don’t wake your mom up!” Kenma warned Rio.

“Wasn’t planning to in the first place!” Rio replied while lazing around.

Kenma couldn’t believe his daughter now. She’s such a disappointment according to him.

‘Where did that innocent child from yesterday go? Is she already in her rebel stage?’ He thought.

“No I am not. Also yesterday was because of mom not you k?” She said almost as if she read his mind.

Kenma could definitely feel the similarity between himself and his daughter. ‘Rio’s behaviour with me is like my behaviour with kuroo and the rest. Guess it’s my retribution.’ He thought.

“Yes it so is.” Rio said interrupting his thoughts.

“What is Rio?” He asks.

“Your retribution “ she says turning her head to the kitchen counter from the TV in the living room.

Kenma gave up at this point and made some quick toasts, aka the only thing he knows how to make for the 3 of them.

“Now get changed and get ready for school!” Kenma orders Rio.

“See this is why I behave like this with you” Rio says having all the boredom in the world to herself.

This time around Kenma got how to get her back in track.

“Oh... so you don’t want your games huh? It’s pretty expensive and is the newest edition. Me and Hitoka worked hard to create this and we wanted you to try it before releasing it worldwide. It’s such a pity...” he said with a fake sad face.

Rio was shook and went to change and get ready for school. She came and sat down for breakfast after packing her bags and getting ready. Kenma smirked at her change and removed his apron, took some breakfast for himself and set some aside for Hitoka.

He covered her breakfast and put it on the table beside her bed and had his breakfast.

“Where’s my game daddy?” Rio asked with puppy eyes while Kenma just smirked.

“Will be there when you are back” he shrugged and Rio just pouted.

He took his car keys and his and Rio’s bag and went downstairs with Rio.

Soon they reached the school and he handed Rio some lunch money since there was no lunch for her as Hitoka was sick and sleeping.

He then went to his office to get some files and gives some of the finished files to his assistant.

After that, he took his car and rushed home to find Hitoka awake sitting on the couch with her laptop. She closed the laptop as soon as she saw Kenma and got ready for checkup.

They both entered the hospital and got Hitoka’s checkup done and happily walked to the parking lot. They were taking the lift when the elevator suddenly stopped working and stopped in between 2 floors, the 11 and the 10th floor. Hitoka was claustrophobic since as long as she could remember. She started having difficulty in breathing and Kenma started panicking. The others in the elevator tried helping her too. One of them pressed the call button to call for help but no one answered.

The others in the elevator were also worried about her. A lady gave her some water to calm her a little bit while the others along with Kenma tried opening the door. The door ultimately opens and Hitoka’s condition was pretty bad at that point of time. She was rushed to the emergency ward.

After a couple of hours of treatment, her condition became stable and so was the baby’s. The people in the elevator with them were also waiting and supported Kenma throughout.

After sometime, she was taken to the regular ward and was given a bed beside an anaemic kid. She just smiles at the kid while Kenma goes out to get some food for her. He noticed her smiling at the kid and sighed while getting some chocolates too for the kid along with Hitoka’s lunch.

“I brought you lunch. Have this. I will pick Rio up and come back.” He says handing out the plastic bag to Hitoka.

“What is this?” She asks him taking out a bar of chocolate smirking while covering her smirk with her hand.

“That....is for him.” He says blushing covering his blush with a hand. She just chuckles while handing out the bar of chocolate to the 6 year old boy.

“This is for you.” She says. He just looks confused.

“This chocolate. My husband got it for you. Take it.” She says giving it to him while he takes it giving her a nod as a sign of thank you.

After some time,

“Mama! What happened to you?” Rio comes in shouting and jumping to her mom’s embrace.

“Nothing honey. Just some usual checkup.” Hitoka says in an attempt to console her crying daughter.

“Huh? Then why are you here for observation?” Rio asks while giving her dad a dirty glare.

“What? I didn’t do anything!” He shrugged. S rio turns her head with a hmph hand lies beside her sitting mom.

“Greet the brother Rio.” Hitoka reminds her.

“Hello oni chan” Rio greets politely and he nods.

He writes something down on a piece of paper and shows it to them.

‘I am Kai. I am 6 this year. Sorry I can’t speak because of some temporary problems.’ He shows them this writing and the family trio just smiles in response.

“My game?” Rio asks. Kenma fidgeted hoping that she would have forgotten it but his luck wasn’t good at the very least. Hitoka was confused about what they were talking about.

“You fooled me didn’t you?” She asked being ticked off. He gulped.

“You damn old man!” Rio shouted and Hitoka smacked her.

After consoling her with chocolates, all of the people in the laughed and messed around happily.

Not long after they could hear people screaming outside. Hitoka was a bit shocked and both Kenma and Hitoka made eye contact and they both nodded together.

Kenma went out to check on what was happening while Hitoka lifted Rio and climbed out of the bed and hugged Kai tightly along with Rio. She held them both tightly to her chest while a woman covered in blood came inside the room, almost dying and Kai mouthed the word “mommy” for a minute. Hitoka’s heart felt heavy as she watched Kai close in to his mom.

As he was about to touch her, Kenma stopped him.

“Don’t. Something is going on outside and the people who touch the dying one get infected too. So don’t.” Kenma warns Kai. Hitoka was left shocked and fell on the ground while Rio still in her arms. She opened her arms to give Kai a hug and he came crawling in and bawled his eyes out. Hitoka and Rio who couldn’t say anything to comfort him just stayed in the same position while hugging him.

Kenma took out a pair of gloves from the nearby table and slowly tried to move Kai’s mother outside. But before he could, she started transforming into something hideous and ran towards the hugging trio. Hitoka noticed this and moved with the 2 kids in her arms. Kai’s mom fell to the ground after crashing through a glass window.

Kenma went outside once more to take a look at what was going on. He noticed something odd about the creatures’ behaviour. It only goes after someone who makes even the tiniest sound or someone who wears bright clothes.

Kenma quickly went inside the room and noticed that all 3 of them were wearing bright coloured clothes. Hitoka and Kai were wearing white while Rio was wearing bright pink.

He quickly searched around for something like to black or brown clothes but couldn’t find any such thing.

“All of you don’t make a sound!” He wrote down in Kai’s notepad. Everyone nodded in response.

He removed his shoes and went to the next room to find a man’s black winter coat. It was enough to cover both the kids. He took that along with him but since he couldn’t find anything else so he just went back.

He went inside, gave the coat to the kids and made the wear it like a cloak. It covered both of them entirely so now he removed his black hoodie and gave it to Hitoka to wear. He still wore a black t and Hitoka still had her black stockings with her.

Hitoka was wearing a black hoodie that came down to a little below her thighs and black stocking. Kenma wore a black t with black shorts and black socks. The 2 kids were stuck together but the buttoned coat.

The parents looked at each other before scribbling asking where Kai’s parents were.

‘He passed away’ Kai scribbled back. Now Kai was their responsibility. Kenma felt that something wasn’t right with the way they wore the coat so he picked the up, removed their white socks and made them put on their brown shoes. Hitoka made sure that Kenma got an immediate haircut with surgical scissors removing the blonde dyed part of his hair and throwing it right outside the room. She wore the hood and tightened it around her neck so that her blonde hair won’t be revealed. Her hair was tied as a bun under the hood and her bangs were clipped out of her face. She still wore a hat just in case, a black one that the previous patient left behind.

All of them left the room with the kids in Kenma’s arms covered entirely in the dark brown coat all buttoned up. He still wrapped the rest of the clothes around them just to be safe. He left first with Hitoka following him closely behind with her meds on her bags.

They all enter Kenma’s black sports car and drove while many creatures ran after them without losing sight of the group.
