PROLOGUE

What is it that we feared the most?

Is it death?

Or where we will be after death?

Heaven, Hell, or the Purgatory?

Is it being abandoned?

Being used?

Being hated?

Is it be being out weighted?

Or someone might steal your spotlight away from you?

But why?

For me,

The one I feared most

Is hearing you say

The words I hate to hear the most

You, rejecting me

Me, finding you with someone else

Me, seeing you happy with someone else

You, being so far away even when you’re right here

Standing in front of me.

I might also be afraid of the dark, height, insects, ghosts but...

I don’t mind being left out in the dark, being at the peak of the highest mountain, be surrounded by insects, or see the most horrifying ghost in the world.

As long as I’m with you, as long you won’t leave, as I can reach you as long as I can love you and … you can love me …

But

Who am I kidding?

That will never happen

Even after we heave our last breath

It will never happen.

Because you and I are bound

To be siblings.

CHAPTER 1

I can’t remember when it started. Before I knew it, I was already falling deeper and deeper into the abyss and found myself often crying at night.

I don’t know what triggered my heart to fall in love with him but, I do know that all of these are wrong.

But even if it is wrong, I still did my best to show him how much I care for him, how much I love him, how much I wanted to be with and spend the rest of my life with him.

“Rain! Breakfast is ready!”

My name is Rain Evans, 17 years of age and I’m already in my senior year in high school.  I’m currently living with my brother Trace Evans, 18 years of age about to graduate senior high. Our parents are long gone. My brother and I are left alone with a savings card that can support us till the day we can afford to pay our own expenses.

“I’m coming! I just need to find my hair clip!” I yelled.

“Your hairclip?” My brother asked while preparing my favorite hot chocolate.

“Yes! The one you gave me last week!”

“Oh~ It’s in my room! I forgot to tell you that you left it in the bathroom!” my brother informed

me.

“Found it! Thank you!”

I was devasted after hearing that our parents passed away due to a car crash. But my brother did his best to comfort me and took good care of me even when he was not used to it. We grew up having a nanny to do all the chores in the house and our parents were always out on business trips that’s why we never got the chance to learn the basic skills in living. But my brother did his best to learn all of those just for me to have a comfortable life even after our parents passed away.

“I really love your bacon egg sandwich”

“Thanks, Rain. I’ll cook anything, my sister likes,” my brother said while petting my head, making my hair messy.

“What do you want for dinner brother? I’ll be home early today.”

“Why? Don’t you have any club activities after school?” my brother asked.

“Nah~ after class activities were canceled today because the faculty will be having a meeting in the afternoon” I informed.

“I see. Will Lei be visiting today?” he asked.

I hummed in reply.

My brother and I are not only siblings, but we are also best friends. We share our secrets, joke around like old friends, and even pull hideous pranks on each other.

That’s how I knew that Trace was in love with my best friend Lei Markens since we were in elementary. I felt insecure and anxious after I knew that my brother likes Lei. I even started dressing up and acting like Lei but the jealousy soon fades away after knowing that Lei is also in love with someone. It made me feel at ease and went back to being me again.

“I’m off to school now. See you later. And start preparing yourself for class, it’s already 7:45 A.M. you can daydream about Lei later in your math class” I said playfully. Making my brother blushed.

He is so cute when he is blushing. Especially when he smiles and laughs… who am I kidding? My brother is cute whatever he does, no matter what facial expression he wears, he is still cute.

But I wish he can show that cute face of his when he blushes and smiles only to me. But I can’t ask him that, I can’t be too selfish since, he is my brother and I am his sister, we’re siblings bound to be apart after finding our other half.

But what if you were my other half?
