Our Of Place

Our Of Place

New Year, New Me

Why would they brag about how this school was founded by some priest if it's not even a Christian school anymore? No wonder they changed this school into a public one. They're only after the money." Kayla, my best friend complained.

It was the first day of school after the long summer holidays. For some it might be a special day since you get to see your classmates again but for me it's nothing big.

The school director Mrs. Milla holds her annual speech about our schools history, goes on to talk about other boring stuff after which we're assigned our new classrooms and get to know our new homeroom teachers.

Always the same, nothing new.

"For your information, miss Kayla, it was a monk who founded this school. And also, how is a school supposed to function without money? They did what was financially best for them." I turned to Kayla, giving her a confident look.

"Aren't those all the same, Miss Dailayah? I mean come on - monk, pope, priest - they're all holy people or whatever." Kayla murmured, interrupting my thoughts.

Suddenly I felt a nudge on my left arm. It was my other best friend chichi. Chichi - whose full name is chuenchai - and Kayla don't get along well.

It's mostly Kayla who doesn't like chichi. She says she's too clingy. Probably just jealous. Both of them are my best friends anyways. It somehow works out..?

"Shh. Mr. John is coming our way!" Chichi shushed us. And she was right. It was just then that I realized Mr. John had stood up from his seat and was making his way to us.

Shit.

"It seems like you have something more important to talk about, ladies? I'd love for you to share it with us but you're lucky I'm letting this one slide. No talking!"

Lucky us. Still embarrassing though. Mr. John's passive aggressive speech had drawn the attention of some students but they quickly turned back around after meeting his eye.

We noticed Steindorff, the German exchange student from another class in our grade, who hadn't turned his attention back to Mrs. Milla but was still staring right at us - but really - me..

"What" I mouthed with a glare. God I would love to wipe that smirk of that little bratty face of his. Pretty daring for an exchange student.

That boy loooved annoying mez since the day he arrived and every single time I just had to snap back. Why me??

It's not my fault! I'm usually capable of controlling myself but this guy just made it really hard for me to do so. Ugh.

After an hour or so - I don't even know how long we were already sitting here - I was awoken from my nap by loud clapping which probably meant that the welcoming ceremony was finally over.

Me, Kayla and chichi quickly packed our stuff and headed to the big hallway. We saw some of our classmates, so we went and stood by them waiting for our new homeroom teachers.

At Willford High School it's tradition to wait for the new homeroom teachers so that we enter the classroom with them for the first time after the summer break.

Apparently, upon entering the room with them, the homeroom teachers hereby promise to guide us into a new part of our lifes... Don't ask me.

After a few minutes of waiting we saw a young female teacher - beautiful, I must say - walking towards us with a big smile on her face. Next to her another man.

Our new homeroom teachers.
