It was a windy night in the town of Darnley and gales of the wind can be felt by the trees like never before. In the blustery night, there was a sound that could be heard. “Pop”, as the windows start to open. Out came a familiar face trying to get down the ground safely from the window which is located at the upper floor of the house. It was Hayley. With her face red as a ripe cherry ready to fall down from its tree, Haley takes a short jaunt to the beach was just a 5-minute walk from her place. As Haley walks she could feel the breeze as the images of her mother’s face when she said those words to her last night. Once she reaches the beach, she sat on the cold, soft sand and stared at the waves of the sea. Thinking about every word she has said to her mother, thinking of how those hurtful words pierced her heart.
“You good?”, a voice of a male spoke, “why do you look so down?” he continued. “We’ve been fighting again.” “I asked her about the guesthouse and she yelled at me”, Hayley replied. “She called you stupid”. “I guess she’s just drifting away from me. I feel like she just yells at me for every single thing”, she continues. “Maybe it’s because of me.” , he replied. With a sorrow look and a drop of tear flowing down his eye. The unknown man says, “Maybe we should just break up.” While holding Haley’s hands tightly he continues, “ I love you but I can’t see you like this. I feel like I am tearing your family apart. I know what it’s like to not have a family. It’s……hell”. Silence was the only thing that could be heard after that. The sounds of waves crushing the rocks of the seashore only could be heard.
The next morning was beautiful and sunny. Birds were chirping away and rooster has just cockled. Even with beauty of nature which was outside, there was still some silence around the house. Julie was inside her room folding some clothes. Haley with the guilty feeling approached her mother. “Mom?”, spoken with a soft voice. Julie turned with a look of curiosity she said,” yes sweetie?” It is as if she had forgotten the whole incident the night before. Hayley had realised that she was at fault, that she had been holding a grudge while her mother forgotten everything as soon as the night ended. This made Hayley even more guilty. Tears started pouring out of her eyes like waterfalls from a cliff. “MOM I’M SORRY” Hayley wailed. She ran to her mother and gave her a big hug.” He broke up with me. I’m sorry for everything”. Tears leaked out of Julie’s eyes while she said with a soft and calm voice,” It’s okay baby. I love you. I love you very much.” Later that day, Hayley grabbed her bag and was ready to attend her class in college. “Bye mom” she said before she waved and closed the door shut.
