Chapter 1

It happened so long ago, that the records have been lost. The different theories which we have tried to use all contradict each other. The most accepted theory told by a historian says that Humanoid Aliens once had regular contact with human beings. They even established a colony on Earth. Once, when all of the species had to leave, they bestowed their powers upon few humans. Those humans had children and those children had children and those children had children and so on.....

You might ask why 95% of the human population believes this theory...

One, Aliens have been discovered by a few humans along with other planets, galaxies, and universes making our world a kind of multiverse, so to speak. Though little or no regular contact has been set up with them, we know they exist.

Secondly, it sounds believable, some theories state that the humans went to other planets and met aliens. That sounds crazy right considering the nature of technology available in those days. One theory even states that the gut was born with the powers.

Those theories all sound weird and absurd... You might wonder the reason the aliens granted such a boon to a lowly species. Some say that the aliens possessed a strange kind of power. They realised that in more than a million years to come, One known as the Dark Lord would attack the multiverse...

The Dark Lord(as he's usually called, they say mentioning his real name brings curses) passed by our Planet in the year 1976. It has been said that his presence passing us caused the earthquake in Tangshan, China which killed 655,000 people. And there's no four that he'll come back for Earth. According to people, he was the one who established a colony of extraterrestrial mutants, demons and beings known as Curses

As for the humans, they trusted in the descendants of the first heroes to save them from the villains

And......

The people of Earth believe in something they call the 'Prophecy' which is something Inscribed on a God-forsaken stone which reads

                  One who is to come,

With powers not Known Before,

Shall conquer The Dark Lord,

And free Earth from its bonds.

And everyone still waits for their Messiah 'The one who is to come '

   I AM Diego Valdez AND THIS IS THE STORY OF HOW I BECAME ONE OF THE WORLDS GREATEST HEROES!

    Being a hero is fun, depending on one's powers or abilities and where he or she lives. For me, it's cool, I have lots of reasons for saying that, but mostly because as a hero you don't get to study hard at school, we can take breaks whenever we like and when we become registered or recruited we earn money 💵.

I mean lot$ and lot$ of money...

My Life story is so so unbelievable, my past isn't something I'll like to dwell on so I'll just rush over the main facts.

My name is Diego. Diego Valdez. I'm an orphan.

I love at an orphanage with other kids who are orphans like me. The name of my best friend is Leonardo. He's also an orphan and shares a room with me, we grew up together trying to do our best, scale through school and then graduate.

The orphanage was a good one and the matron was kind enough to let us stay till we finished school

Our school was far and we always had to walk to school and back. We became the laughing stock in class. People rarely talked to us. Still, we made one or two good friends and struggled through schoolwork. The bullies always picked on us to beat up and bully.

Back then I was crushing on a girl named Betty but I couldn't just tell her how I felt. I think Leo had trouble with several other girls too.

Gosh, I can't keep up with their names 🤯.

As I said before I hate my past, Let's move on to six months later. On a weekend, Leo found out that he possessed power. He told only me because if you had powers at the orphanage you were kicked out.

It was fun 'cause he could control Ice and he could manipulate fire too. We had fun then until a girl told the matron about it.

The matron 'expelled' Leonardo, telling him to pack up.

I, as a good best friend, decided to follow Leo. We headed South, moving to the outskirts of the city to look for a living there.

We had probably walked 2 miles and it was getting late. The street lamps turned on and everywhere was quieter.

"You know what, I think we should take a break here," Leo said crouching on the polished steps.

"Hey, I thought we were heading further down?" I asked.

"That would be later," he said.

"But here's creepy and it stinks----".🤢

" That's because you just stopped by".

I smiled briefly. Leo loved dirty jokes.

"I'm famished, did you sneak something along?"

"Yep, I've got lots of bread and peanut butter," I told him.

"Excellent... Now can I have some?".

" Of course NOT"

...

"Oh please. Alright, I take back what I  said".

I laughed, then shared the food into two parts.

After eating, we just sat down there admiring the beauty of the setting Sun.

It was late, only the street lamps provided illumination in the place.

I looked up, sky cars were dashing around, horning, swerving, and speeding away in the air.

To our right was an alley, after starting 👀 at it for a long time , I got up and decided to leave.

"Leo" I said "I don't think I like this place. Let's leave"

Before Leo could utter a word, Curses began creeping out of the shadows.

"Did you see that ?" I cried. "We're dead meat"

"Quiet... I'll handle this" he said.

"Are you sure ---"

"Trust me".

And with those words, he burst into flames.

I forgot to mention, the colour of his hair can alternate from brown to white and back again....

He shot out blasts of fire at the Curses. His tempo and fighting power kept on going higher and higher until the whole place was in flames and then suddenly he changed to Ice.

Using a wall of Ice as a shield, he burst through the Curses.

...

...

Then using his Ice as a kind of blade, he tore through the attacking Curses...

A Curse rushed towards him, then using blue flame, he incinerated the head of the Curse.

Fighting Curses, is a very difficult and annoying thing to do yet Leo put up one of the best performance I've ever seen.

While he was blasting a Curse with an unusual combo of Fire🔥 and Ice, another hit him with a little blast making him fall to his knees.

The Curse swelled again ready to project another blast from it's mouth...

My anger rose. I couldn't bear to see my best friend die, he defended  me to the last.

"NO !!!" I screamed "I can't lose you now !"

I opened my eyes and shut them again quickly. Suddenly and almost miraculously, a small portal opened in front of me and the blast was sucked into it...

                      I BLACKED OUT.
