Herald, the Tracker

Lotteries are harmless games in which people spend money to buy a ticket with a number written on it, and one lucky winner gets a huge prize pool of money and goods. However, what many do not know is that this system is merely a facade meant to track time travellers who came from the future and want to test their abilities. Time travellers, or Loopers, are dangerous beings, capable of changing the present based on their knowledge of the future. They have their own evil intensions, and must be stopped before they can do anything bad. Herald is a Lottery Ticket officer, who distributes the prize money and assasinates the time travellers. Lottery Ticket is an alias for 'Looper Tracker'. As long as the target has the ticket, Herald will be able to hunt them down easily.

One fine day, Daniel, a boy who wanted to try his hand at gambling, came to Herald's shop. He was feeling really lucky that day after all! He randomly pulled out a ticket and said, "I'll take this one please." Herald's eyes widened. That was the Looper Tracker, which meant this person in front of him was a Looper. Unfortunately he had no weapons on him, so he had to follow this person behind. He went into the employee only room, took his pistol, and quickly hurried outside to follow the Looper. The tracker, combined with Herald's skill makes it a breeze to kill the Looper, but he needs to find the reason behind the Looper's existence, so that he can keep track of other Loopers who will come for the same reason, who are now aware of his interference. The customer had now entered what seems like his home. Herald saw another figure in the house, which he assumed was the customer's mother. He broke the window of the room in which the mother was, entered the house, aimed at the mother's head and yelled out loud,"Looper, I know you are in here! Reveal yourself if you don't want this person to get hurt!"

Daniel was scared and confused. He had no idea what this person was talking about. All he knew was that there was no way he could let him harm his mother. To him, his mother was everything, and if any harm came to her, he wasn't sure what he would do. He raised both his arms up in the air and came into the room. "I have no idea what you are talking about, but please don't do anything to my mother.",He said. "Tell me why you are Looping, and i will let her go. Answer wrong, and she dies." The Intruder said. "I have no idea what looping is, and I'm very certain I'm not doing it. Please let my mothe-" Daniel stopped mid sentence as he heard a gunshot. A scream echoes through the room, as Daniel's mother falls to the floor. His eyes widen with shock and fear, as he slowly comprehends the scene that unfolded in front of his eyes. "MOM!!!",he yelled loudly. Herald stared at the daughter and son with cold blue eyes, whispering words that made it seem like he was the bad guy,"You're next."

Daniel cowered in fear. His hands were full of blood, and his mind was blank. He did not want to die. "I know you can stop me from killing her if you Loop again, but you know, I'm not letting you do that.", Herald said. What was looping? How could he save his mother by doing it? Why is this person trying to kill him? Daniel's mind started working again. At that point, he saw something coming in from the window: a grenade. "This is it, I guess.", He thought as he closed his eyes.

"A Flash grenade, huh..? Neat party trick. Unfortunate that I had to deal with two Loopers when I was the least prepared..."
