Beware The Man You Think You Know
For me life was simple. You are born. You make memories. You grow up and achieve. You fall in love multiple times but eventually find your destined love. You Graduate. You study. You apply for your first job and before you even get to realize life's goals and potential, you get married. It ends right there. Responsibilities, chores, kids, everything a person has dreamed of since young. But it happened too fast to even experience life's adventures and happiness. It was a mistake to move too fast. For some people it is true happiness to have a family but for others it is too much to handle. For me it was neither, I had a unique goal. I wanted to achieve greatness and build a good foundation for my future before I get married or have children.
I don't want to bore you further with the lecture of life, so I am going to go ahead and introduce myself.
I am Isabella Rose.
A common and simple name, but to me it is special. It was the last thing my mother gave to me before she passed. She died after giving birth to me but before she died, she gave me my name lovingly.
It has only been me and my father until Arn'e Borchues entered my life as a step mother. She was my mothers best and only friend. She married my father before I turned twelve. To be honest, I despised her. I don't know if it's a sin to despise someone, but I did it anyway.
Arn'es daughter" Elena" was different though.
She was kind, gentle and frail.
She was only two years younger than me.
She was my stepsister.
I had ivory skin and freckles all over my face and curly brown hair that couldn't be tamed at all, and emerald green eyes like my mother. Elena had a caramel tanned skin and a beauty mark below her right eye. Her hair is long and straight with a golden blonde colour and her eyes was a shade of blue and grey. She was perfect. Not to be compared with me.
My father treated her like his own child. Loving and caring for her more than he ever did towards me. He despised me. He believed I was the cause of my mother's death. Sometimes I wondered if it really was my fault.
He had a new family and I was just a burden.
But Elena made it feel like home.
She was always there for me, until the day came of my high school graduation. I had to move to Australia to study futher as an Doctor. After that, I would never see my "family" again,or so I believed.
Not even a second after entering the house from my last day of high school my father had all my belongings ready to be shipped to Australia along with me.
I was furious.I scolded and questioned him.
He answered me with one sentence that made me so weak that I fell to the floor with a burning pain in my chest.
He answered my questions about me leaving for good with "You are ill fated, ill mannered and ill bred. You are not my daughter. You are the cause of my beloved wife's death. Now leave."
I was speechless, I didn't know what to think or say. I knew I couldn't change anything.
I took my things and left for good.
I was about to start a brand new life in Australia.
Without "them".
