"That's how I'm trying to escape the call of death and living on",

Erika thought the answer in her mind when her best friend Raya asked why she was looking for a diary in this digital era.

'Girl,you can write on your phone whatever you want,there are numerous apps like a diary and you can lock it also ,so why bother to buy a book and waste a book and a pen' Raya said.

Erika: 'Oh ya,I don't want to change my that hobby of writing, don't you remember we started together when Tia ma'am said to start journaling , it's been like eight years ,do you think it is easy to stop something that continued for these many years.'

Raya : 'Ya ,those were the days,I remember you writing everything that disappointed you and saying all things you loved and how happy you were when you got Zil as your bestfriend whom you wished so badly to be your bestfriend .'

Erika: ' Oh don't start with that, I still remember how we fought for a misunderstanding, that Jen was really trying to steal Zil from me,if it was not for my diary, everyone would have misunderstood me and I would have never got you as my bestfriend now.. *both laughs.

Erika : 'Hey on that note,what was your diary?*teases her.. ,i remember you writing;you lost marks here and there . SERIOUSLY GIRL, I didn't ask you then because we were not that close,but you really caught my notice. '

Raya: ' Ya , isn't that why ,now I also became an important person to you like Zil'

Erika: ' Nah girl, don't compare yourself with her,you are special in a different way and she is different in a different way like two stars in my life. Actually,you know I thought I would never be friends with you after I read your diary ,I was like ,' ya I should keep distance with that girl', studious ones were never my type to get along with'

Raya(*angrily) : 'Then you go back to Zil,where is she ? You are with me now just because she is in UK right?!'

Erika :' Hey come on let me finish, I meant to say that you have proven me wrong, Idiot ,if it wouldn't have been for you,why would I join Takai High School even if I had the choice to go to Rexas International high school?' I heard an earful to choose the former from my mother as she wanted me to join the latter,anyway what I mean is now you are trapped with me and will be till the end.'

(Raya and Erika have been friends since their first year in middle school,they were both part of a famous girl gang and later after Erika changed schools she kept on meeting Raya as they belonged to the same hometown. They studied together again in senior high school and that's how they became like this glue stick...Now both are college students. Raya chose to be a doctor while Erika decided to follow her passion to learn physics. Her inspiration was always Stephen Hawkings. Raya is currently studying in Osaka while Erika is studying at Tokyo University. They are back in their hometown,Nagoya for winter break )

There are many eye-catching Christmas stalls on the streets. They walked past many playing and looking into them but did not find the one they were looking for...

Raya: 'Eri, I'm tired of just wandering let's get something to eat,I'm hungry. Your book we can find later,if you didn't get ,i promise I'll buy and send it for you,so come let's go. '

Erika: ' Raya,it will take time for you to send it, I remember how you said you will send me a gift on my birthday and couldn't give it for months until I came to meet you in Osaka right and importantly I need the book today as my old one is over and I need a new one.'

Raya sits at a bench near a well lighted interesting candle shop. Erika looks into the shop while forcing Raya to get up and walk and rushes into the shop

Erika: ' (Sumimasen) Excuse me,sir,

Is that book for sale?' * point towards a light blue coloured book.

Shopowner:' I'm sorry to disappoint you young girl,that is actually a candle tray stand in the shape of a book. If you are looking for a book,you got it wrong.!'

Disappointed Erika looks and turns around after bowing to the shopowner.

( Shopowner is a man in his fifties,who is kind looking)

Raya: ' That is a nice one you have there,your art is really so good,I will buy the candle in the shape of lantern. At last,I'm buying something after roaming for so long.' talks after smirking at Erika and continues to the shopowner.. 'Don't mind her sudden intrusion,she was looking for so what is called a diary,we have been roaming and didn't find one of her likes in the past three hours and it is almost time for the fireworks,we have to rush but still she is clinging on that book thing'. Raya pays for the lantern candle and prepares to leave the shop

Erika really looked so disappointed,it was her character,she got happy about small things and got upset about small sudden things. Seeing her gloomy face,the shopowner goes inside and brings a book similar to the candle tray she pointed at and gave her. Erika stood in disbelief and the face she had when she rushed to the shop came back to her face as if all the lights on the Christmas tree got on.

Shopowner: ' This was my reference book to make that candle tray,I got it as a souvenir from a friend for my work,it really has some kind of attractiveness of its own ,anyway it's of no use to me ,let it be a Christmas gift to you. You don't wanna pay for it. I'm grateful as I got an enthusiastic customer,you remind me of my cheerful grand daughter,stay blessed young girls and have so much fun for Christmas.'

Erika: ' Thank you so much ,Sir.. You don't know how much this means to me ,please accept these cookies as I don't have a gift for you but I'll never forget this gift,it was the best one'.

Raya and Erika leave the shop after gifting the cookies and run to the ground where fireworks are displayed, Erika looked so happy and Raya was happy seeing Erika so cheerful. While they were enjoying the show, Erika slips her hand into her bag and takes out cookies in the shape of bunnies and gives it to Raya along with a covered gift. Raya loves bunnies and cookies made by Erika. So of course this was a great gift for her.

Raya: ' Oh my heavens, you bought me a necklace with my name ,oh girl, isn't this the one you sent me that came to your university fest, I remember it costs quite a lot and so i said i needed it so badly. You really took my word seriously and the cookies,girl you just arrived last ,how did you get time to make them this soon.'

Erika: ' I made it this morning,I prepared the batter last night so it was easy to make it in the morning and the necklace,i really wanted to give you one that matches both of us,so of course i bought one too. Now it's matching...matching ..'

Raya: *hugs Erika, 'You are the best gift anyone could have for Christmas really, I'm glad you are not taken by any guy , if you were i would have fought and scared him off ..'

Erika: ' Ah ya, same goes with you, I won't let you be taken by any. So in conclusion we bothe will say single forever' * both burst in laughter ...

Erika at home ... Opens her book that she got as a gift from the shopowner and looks at the designs on the pages... there are candles and light patterns on the edges of the book,it really looks attractive...She starts writing with her fluffy pen... " The 23rd of December,I got a well remembered gift and an unforgettable day, when I was really so lost in the moment of what to do, that kind soul gave me you,dear diary so what should I call you? My blue..?M.B that's it,who is gonna check on the style of the name right,when it comes from me...* smiles to herself and continues to write, even though I didn't receive an expected welcome from my family,i got a wonderful welcome this day from Raya,that is enough.. she was there for me when I was really at the rock bottom. Really what it would have been if she was not there. If two things that matters so much to me ,it is you and Raya...* sudden interruption, Erin bangs and opens the door ,' Sis,Ma is calling for dinner,come down soon.'

Erika: * freaks out suddenly as she was interrupted her lone time* ,Erin! How many times have i told you to don't open soon after banging,what if i will still in bath. I know you are in rush to go back and play your game,but still respect my space ,I'm elder than you...Next time I'll show you.'

Erin smirks and bangs the door again and screams to Ma :' Ma she is still busy getting ready, let me eat.'

Ma is calling for Erika now: ' Erika come down fast,all are here for dinner,what are you doing?'

Erika:' Coming ,Ma. Just a minute!'

Whispers to herself,' that boy really annoys me quite a lot now'

She continues her writing, finishing her words ;"Thank you for everything I had experienced today I know everyday brings lots of choices and I'm still the old me lost and sometimes drowning but still I have the hope that everything will be ok one day. That day I'll look back and tell you, I'm ok..'
