Forbidden Magic

It was barely a hundred years, but the battle between the humans and demons, was already a forgotten issue.

Few months after the death of King Rolland the third, a new king was named, in the person of Lancelot roquez,

Lancelot was an outright tyrant who ruled the kingdom with an iron fist, his intensions were unknown to the people for he cared less for their welfare, he was more of a demon to them than a human to them,

For a long time, the commoners suffered greatly with little or no hope of survival, the magic knights academy which was once free for all became solely for nobles and wealthy families, due to the new system of entrance which had set in,

During the eighteenth year of the reign of Lancelot, a group of knights were sent to explore a cave far outside the boundaries of the kingdom.

In the process of exploration, they discovered some strange symbols in the cave of which the copied into a scroll, and sent back to the kingdom,

The symbols were of ancient language which were impossible to understand, the king then sent it to the sorcerer, ephron, for sorcerers were the only people who knew the ancient ways of the witches, and thus their language.

As the translation were being done, further investigations were carried out on the cave and it was discovered that, the cave was an ancient sanctuary, where the queen of witches, Helene, dwelled, she received prophecies every ten years from the cave, and of which were said to come to past in the next ten years.

Exactly seven days after, the translation was finished and sent to the king,

And so it read.

On the same day light triumphed over darkness, shall the darkness do the same, for the weakness of the light dwelt in that which is their strength

After reading this, the king became even more confused, for it sounded meaningless to him, but even at that, he seemed very afraid.

He immediately ordered for the prophecy to be recopied into three scrolls and sent to the other kingdoms, this caused a great deal of confusion in all the kingdoms, for the prophecy was a great mystery to all.

One day, Ephron, during the period of her sorcery, through the aid of a forbidden spell and some magic potion, was able to break the law of time and saw the near future, she saw scenes of future events, mysteries that were yet to come, but after this, the sight of bloodshed stained her heart in despair, for the true meaning of the prophecy was revealed to her.

Immediately after, the side-effect of the spell began unfolding,

Her entire life-force was spent. Gray hair instantly grew out of her head, letting loose her former red hair, her face began to wrinkle, minute by minute.

Out of fear, she quickly run and drank a life enhancing potion to stop it, but the potion couldn't stop the aging, it only managed to slow it down, she then knew, she had but a few days to live.

The next day, she called for her brother, Arson,

On reaching her house, he knocked on the door expecting a reply, but was shocked, on hearing an aged woman's voice.

When he entered the house, he was extremely horrified by the sight of his sister's sudden transformation, but before he could say anything, she quickly explained the situation and also entrusted the details of the prophecy to him, she then sent him to relay the information to the king.

At first he was hesitant to go, he couldn't just leave his sister in that condition, but she pleaded with him and insisted a great deal, with little or no option left. He yielded to her request.
