Chapter 1

Hoshinomori ran into her school, trying to find her locker. She'd already checked three hallways, but no luck. As she turned the corner of the next hallway, she saw a boy with blonde hair and hazel eyes surrounded by a crowd of girls. She froze and felt her heart stop beating for a moment. Could this be love, she asked herself. Shaking her head, she continued down the hallway to her locker.

Hoshinomori wasn't a common highschool girl. She was shy and introverted with almost no friends. Unlike all the other girls, she wasn't interested in cosmetics are social media, but rather videogames.

Trying to keep thoughts of the boy out of her mind, Hoshinomori headed to her class. When she arrived at her classroom, the whole doorway was filled with girls. Struggling to push through them all, Hoshinomori entered the classroom to find it just as crowded. Near the center of the classroom the boy from earlier was sitting looking tense. The most popular clique(group) of girls was surrounding him, begging for his attention.

Hoshinomori went to the back of the classroom and started at the boy. In a few minutes, the teacher came in and shooed away all the extra students.

"Good morning, class." He grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. "I'm going to take attendance."

Halfway through the list he read the name "Usama Tanjou."

"Here." The boy from before replied looking a bit bored.

So his name is Usama. Hoshinomori smiled to herself and focused back on her work. Well, tried to. Every few minutes she'd stop to look back at Usama along with all the other girls. Yeah, she knew she probably wouldn't be noticed if the popular girls were involved, but she still liked him.

At lunch, Hoshinomori's only friend ran over to her. Both of them had bonded through gaming, but that was really their only trait.

Kokoro had long red hair and green eyes, while Hoshinomori had short blue hair and blue eyes. Kokoro was an extrovert, and well-known amongst the school, mainly for her proficiency at sports. Hoshinomori was an introvert and wasn't particularly good at sports but rather at academics. Kokoro was the reason Hoshinomori had come to this school, since she had no other friends nearby.

"Hoshinomori! You're here!" Kokoro hugged her and then dragged her to a table by a window.

Did you see the new student?" Kokoro loved shipping and matchmaking more then most things besides sports. "He already got Arisu and her friends to like him!"

Arisu was the most popular of the girls at their school, and was infamous for never liking anyone.

"Yeah, I saw her in my class." Hoshinomori pulled out her phone and started playing on it.

"Wow, he's in your class? What do you think if him?"

Hoshinomori paused and felt her face heating up. "He's cool, I guess."

Kokoro noticed her reaction. Smirking, she spoke. "Oh? So my little gamer likes someone?"

Hoshinomori hid her face behind her phone while Kokoro laughed at her.
