Chapter 1- The First Day

RING RING RING

Shit it’s 6 already? Sahara rolled out of bed and slowly walked to the bathroom. There wasn’t much in there except a hairbrush, a toothbrush, some toothpaste, and a towel. She did just move into this dorm room, and luckily she got an unoccupied one.

She throws her hair up in a ponytail and turns the water on, grabbing the toothbrush and putting a dallop of toothpaste onto the bristles before running it under the water. She finishes up brushing her teeth and takes her hair back down, brushing it.

RINGGGGG

Who is calling me this early? She grabs her phone, seeing the name “Mom” light up across the top of the screen. She answers.

“Hey Mom” she says as she puts the phone on speaker and puts it on the dresser, pulling her clothes on. “Goodmorning sweetie!!! Excited for your first day as a college student?” her mom says with her usual happy voice, and it made Sahara feel a little better about walking into a room full of strangers. “Ah- yeah a little nervous” she giggles. “No need! You’re so smart hun I know you’ll do great!” That made her smile, but she was quickly interrupted when she realized the time. “Thanks Mom, I gotta go, I love you” she hung up the phone and slipped on her shoes, grabbing her bag and walking out the door. Locking it behind her.

The walk to her first class was long, it was all the way across campus from her dorms. She pulled up her schedule on her phone one last time to make sure.

7am-10am classroom G-12

12pm-2pm classroom B-9

5pm-7pm classroom G-12

Only 3 classes today, that’s not bad. She thought as she stepped up to the building, pulling the door open. She walked down the hallway until she saw room G-12, the door agape. She took a seat in a desk, taking her laptop out and setting it infront of her.

RINGGGGGGG

The bell for the first class rang loudly, and the professor walked swiftly into the room. “Good morning class” he said in a smooth, deep voice. Sahara looked up, but found herself staring as soon as her eyes met his 6’4 lean frame, her lips slightly parted. “My names Professor Kane, todays just an introduction day, so you all can get your computers out and we’ll get started.” he said, walking slowly towards his desk.

Sahara finally dropped her eyes to her laptop, clicking in her password and logging in. “I’ll be redirecting your tabs to a page, read all of the rules of the classroom and let me know if you need help understanding anything.” Sahara watched as her screen flicked to the school website, and began reading.

Once she finished, she looked up to see Professor Kane looking around the class. Their eyes meet and she tried to look away, but his light green eyes seemed to captivate her. He smirked at her parted lips and wide eyes before breaking the eye contact, looking down at his computer. Saharas face grew hot as she realized what happened, and she looked back down at her screen as well. Her screen flicked onto the email tab, and there was one unread email. It was from Kane. She raised her head to look at him but he was busy smirking at his screen.

She clicked on the email.

Is there something interesting about me to you?

She hurried and clicked “reply” and typed back.

I’m sorry I didn’t mean to stare.

But the second you clicked “send”, the bell rang.
