CH 01 ~ Injured

After the sun set, Darkness covered the Earth like a black, airtight net.

Specially the dark forest, where the narrow walking path was filled with darkness as the shadows of the tall trees, overhanging tree branches blocked the moonlight.

It was full of clumps of bushes, barely visible black trails snaking through the undergrowth.

The moon was barely shining through the lattice of leaves, dark sky and the stars seen in glimpses through tree breaks; as the tall shadowed pines stretching up like arrows to cover the sky.

The whole forest was dead silent, except the sound of branches creaking as a person's feet shuffled through detritus; while dragging another person with him.

There, a tall man was getting dragged, as the dripping out blood from his chest dyed the dry leaf's bloody red on the road.

Asher Anderson, the President of the Anderson Group; kept his deep blue eyes tightly closed as he felt his breathing becoming heavier with each second passing by.

"Don't sleep, President!!"

He could barely hear his assistant's continual pleas to keep his eyes open and not to fall asleep. But he failed to command his own body.

He let his personal assistant, Spencer; to drag him out of the forest and kept listening to the sound of wind whistling around trunks and the humming of insects.

The smell coming from the sandalwood trees filled his nostrils as a familiar figure appeared on his mind.

'She used to smell like this...'

Asher's thin lips slightly curved up into a smile, which one couldn't even notice without seeing him up close and he found himself getting lost in his past memories once again.

The moment when he had saw her for the first time, five years ago.

Her emerald green eyes which resembled this dark forest widened with surprise, before gentleness filled them with love and she looked into his dark ocean blue eyes.

Unlike his deep blue eyes, which had no emotions; her emerald eyes was full mystery, making him unable to look away.

Her long brown hair swayed as the cold wind blew by, and she tucked her hair behind her ears with a shy smile on her face.

Just like that, he found himself already moving on his feet and approach the girl, who was wearing a wine red cocktail dress; with a high slit at the right leg of the dress.

This revealed her long and slender white leg.

He cupped her face in his palm, which was bigger than her whole face and she looked at him with a blushing face.

She took a few steps back as he got closer to her, till she got trapped between the balcony railing and his body.

His hot breath fall on her face and her body trembled a little because of the tension between them.

Her emerald green eyes looked away as she couldn't stand his heated gaze, but his deep blue eyes stayed glued on her face; observing her every reaction closely.

'A-Asher?'

The moment she called his name with her soft and sweet voice, he had lost his remaining rationality.

He embraced her even if he knew it was a deliberate trap, which was laid for him.

Ignoring everything and embraced her tightly into his arms, letting himself drown into her.

'Alice...'

Her name rang into his mind as the pain on his chest increased, making him unable to breath.

"Alice..."

Spencer looked at his superior with sympathy as he continued to walk to reach the highway.

It will become hard to treat Asher if he loses more blood.

'He still can't move on...'

It's been two years since they have separated and he had seen her for the last time.

His ex-wife; whom he had divorced along with the custody of their only son.

Asher has already used up all his connection but still couldn't find her anywhere.

She just disappeared right after their divorce, like she had appeared out of nowhere into his life.

"Don't sleep, President... Otherwise how can you see her again?"

Spencer spoke as he tried to use her as an excuse to keep him awake, and his idea worked.

Asher opened his deep blue eyes and tried to walk, while his hands covered his injured chest, which was shot by a bullet.

They have gotten information about some gang buying their electronic products and selling a duplicate copy of it, in a low price.

Although the police had assured him they will catch them, but Asher wanted to catch them with his own hand.

But unexpectedly, he was shot by someone after they caught the gang and Spencer hurriedly escaped from the place with him to avoid the mess.

It could be an enemy or some backstabber is hiding between them, they still don't know it.

Asher's mind started to go blank as Spencer finally reached the highway and made him lean on tree.

He watched his assistant trying to stop a car for take them to a hospital, but everyone was driving away after seeing the blood on him.

And then, finally a luxurious black car stopped in front of them and Asher could guess that someone has finally agreed to help them as he saw the thankful expression on Spencer's face with his blurred vision.

The driver opened the backdoor of the car, before he came over to help Spencer to move the almost unconscious Asher.

As they lead him into the backseat of the car, the same sandalwood fragrance fills his nostrils and he tries his best to open his eyes to see the person on the backseat.

He vaguely sees a pair of white slender legs before loses his sense completely and collapses on the backseat, after seeing those familiar emerald green eyes again...

'Is it really you...?'

'...Alice?'
