Unexpected Encounter

Luna Saint is an exchange student at the University of South Carolina, Columbia.

"Among those guys present in that room. He's the only one weirdo with that kind of charm" Luna said to her phone

During the first year of her study, she often went to the local's library to do some research. Her productive routine has driven her to meet a charming mysterious guy that somehow stole her attention the whole day he was present in her surroundings thus she comes over the library more often every day after class just to find an excuse to bump onto him.

"Is he? or it's just you are the weirdo one to think that guys with a bowl cut these days are hot?" the male voice on the line ridicule

"Being anti-mainstream is not weird but unique. U.NIQUE. Besides, I never said guys, I only count 'that' guy andddd he wasn't just hot but cute at the same time! How attractive!" she replied whilst keeps chewing in the cookies into her mouth

"How attractive that guy could be that you even willing to spend more hours in that boring shed!"

Luna tuts hearing his words, "Wha--Dylan! What kind of best friend are you?! So, inconsiderate"

"Hahaha, I just messing up with ya. Honestly, I am eager to meet him. How great he could be to attract my very-ignorant-elegant best friend?"

"You'll be blown when you do" she replies with a delightful smile

However, one day, things do not work the way she expects it to be. She no longer found any living clues that the guy would attend the library again so she began to feel disappointed.

"Today is the hella fvkin day of the week!"

"Spit me"

"For the entire day! I got scolded by my lecturer! I do-- I'm not doing good at school like I usually do! Seriously wtf with me?!"

"Is this because of him?"

"I... I dont--I'm not sure what I'm feeling right now. It's been weeks and he hasn't shown up," she said with a brittle voice

"I haven't actually talked to him, Dylan. How can we ever meet again?" by the tone of her voice, Dylan could tell she is about to cry.

"Ok, Luna, look, it's normal okay. Everything you've been through, what are you thinking, your feelings, your emotions, it's normal ok. But, you're no supposed to overthink about it. I mean, you've said it to me. When its meant to be, It'll meant to be. Just like our friendship! Who knows that 'we' are exist? 'we' are even possible, right? So, as you said again, you guys haven't talked to each other properly, so how come you could assume he would not come back? What if he just skipped a day or two or a week, or something, right? Or... or probably he has something urgent to take care of.  Who knows?"

"But what if he would not coming back?"

"You still have me. Date me instead"

Luna gulps her cry and brushes her tears away, "What?" she asks in a clueless tone which brings Dylan back to his mind 

"Oh! T-That was a ... I mean why not? Uh no! Just--... Okay, fvk why am I stuttering!!!!"

Hearing Dylan's awkwardness has brought Luna to laugh away her tears. Hearing the girl's laugh and back to herself again, Dylan smiles sincerely across the line.

"Thanks, Dylan. You have always been there for me"

"I am... Anytime"

Moment of silence as both of them drown in their own smile and chemistry that only one can be keen about it.

"Ah... hey, I just remember something" Dylan speaks up

"What's that?"

"I guess this is the right time to do it?"

"Oh! You want to meet up? I can have the whole weekends by the end of this month"

"That's--That's totally perfect."

"So, where'd you wanna go?"

"My friends reserve a spot at the airsoft range.  I think you would like to take your gaming hobbies into the real simulation?"

"Oh. MY. GOD. SHUT UP! I'm DEFINITELY IN!"

"Glad to hear that. I'll tell them that you'll join the team"

"Wait! Will you play too?"

"No, why would I? I'll just drive them over"

Nothing comes from Luna after he said that when actually he just messing up with her again.

"Of course I'll be there, pumpkin. You think I'm stupid to drag you out from the southeastern of America to northeastern just to walk over me?"

Luna pouts, "Well, I thought I'm still slow at picking jokes"

"Yes, you are, dumb-kin! And do me a favor,"

"What?"

"Stop pouting your mouth to the breathing air like that. Do it later to my face! People would take you crazy"

"HEYY! How can you TELL?!"

"Well, I know you. End of conversation."

"Fine~ But I can't wait to meet youuuu~ I'm lonely as heck in this foreign realm~"

"Oh geez, thats it, the dorky Luna has come back!"

She giggles, "Yeah~ You know me so well, haha"

Dylan smiles, "Okay, I gotta go. See you around"

"You're the best best friend I ever have, Dylan. Love you"

"Love you, too,"

"Kay, Kay. See yaa~"

Luna end the line, she put her phone away and walk up to cross the road. Meanwhile, Dylan still standing there, staring straight at the back of girl who steps up her feet as the crossing light turns red.

The most awaited day has come. Luna waits impatiently to meet her best friends and having fun together by doing their most favorite hobby, shooting game. It's like a dreams come true when she saw a familiar guy got out of a car with his friends. The familiar guy is her best friend, a partner in crime, Dylan O'Brien.

"DYLANNNN!!!" She screams out of excitement and ran towards him to heap him with hugs.

"Oh! Luna~"At first, Dylan was shocked to find a girl tuck him into her arms, but hearing her voice and seeing her face is enough to tell that it is his best friend, Luna.

Yes, it is a dream come true. He was first met Luna online, once when he randomly do a gaming live stream with the other twitch streamer. Since then, they play games together and become a gaming partner.

"I am soooo happy to meet you in real life, Dylan!!"

"Me too, Luna." They hugged each other yearningly.

"Ehem!" the other interrupt

They realize they have been quite ignorant of their surroundings so they release their embrace and Luna greets everyone.

"Right, let me introduce you guys" Dylan uttered

"Hi, boys. I'm Luna Saint, Dylan's online best-friend"

"Well guess not anymore~ We've met, so~" Dylan mumbles but Luna still could hear it

"Pleased to meet you and thank you for inviting me to join your game~"

"I'm Scott"

"I'm Jackson"

"Nice to meet you too Luna, Its good to see Dylan hangouts with a girl" Scott spills causing a slight embarrass on Dylan's face

Luna look up to the guy standing next to him, Dylan cannot help to look at her. There she is again, with her clueless face, looking for answer spills out from his mouth.

"Nothing. It was nothing. Don't listen to him. He always makes no sense."

Scott sneers before walking away. Meanwhile, Jackson just shakes his heads before catching up Scott.

Luna and the others play pretty well that they decided to play some more matches. 

"That was intense. But, Luna did a good job back there" Scott uttered

"Hey, Dylan, I know about you but, is this actually her very first time playing airsoft?!" Jackson couldn't help to speak up

"I'm surprised too" Dylan smiles with huge pride on his face for Luna's gameplay

"Don't ask me. I do not even believe myself" Luna dodged as the three of them staring at her

"Guess video games are pretty much educative as well, huh?" Dylan said still with his pride

"You know it~!" she replied and they both high five cheerfully

"Oh geez" Scott and Jackson chuckle

However, during the umpteenth match, their team was assigned against other players.

"The other team is nowhere in sight. I guess they're splitting up" Scout uttered

"Yeah, where the hell are these guys."-Dylan

"We should spread out too then?"-Luna

All of them stare at her before come to a conclusion, "She's right. We never know when and where they'll show up and snatch our flag."-Jackson

"Yeah. I'll go this way"-Scott

"Wait! Shouldn't we go in pair?" Dylan propose as his eyes coding the guys about Luna that makes them once again glance at her

"I'll go this way" and the very insensitive Luna put on her clueless face as she saw where they are looking at

"What? What are you guys waiting for!" she exclaimed annoyed

"Okay, okay! Go go go!" Dylan instructs and they all spreading out

Dylan bases around their flag meanwhile Scott and Jackson heading to different paths and Luna just go where ever her heart tells her.

As when her heart leads her to a tree where a flag is embedded.

"Gotcha" she mumbles

She winds her gun to her back, slowly and stealthily she climbs up the tree. After a couple of steps and grabs, she snatches the flag and sticks it in her empty holster before carefully climbing down. However, Luna has no clue that it was all a trap. Someone is aiming a sniper at her.

TRACK!

A blustery bullet strike her hands that she reflects loosing grasp. She starts to loose balance. At that moment she knew, she fvked up.

BUGG!

"Arghh..." she cries in pain as she can feel the excruciating pain numb her legs. 

The guy is shooked! He quickly rushes over her to help.

"God! I'm--I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" The guy desperately worried.

"I-I think ... I broke my leg" Luna replies grinning, tears puddled in her eyelids.

Hearing the girl, he immediately takes off his helmet and check on her legs

Soon as she saw the face behind the mask, she found out that the guy she has been looking for was kneeling right in front of her. 

"Aw!" she cries as he touches the source of the pain

He slowly tucks up the leg of her trouser and saw the injury. He stares back to her and saw her began crying as she saw her leg. He looks around but no one in sight.

"We need to take you to the hospital"

Without waiting for her consent, the guy reaches out his hand and carry her on his arms.

The rest was a blur. The commotion of her surroundings, the paramedic sirene, worries tumult from Dylan and his friends. All she ever remember was his panic face, his particular scent, panting breath, rushing heartbeat, and the warmth of his embrace as he keeps her in his arms.

Knock knock

Luna shifts her sight from the window of the patient room to the entrance door. Her right leg is dressed in a cast.  She smiles as she saw Dylan was the one knocking the door.

"Hey" he greets her with his calming tone

"Hey"

"You alright?" he sits on the chair by the side of the hospital cot

"Yes."

"Does it hurt?"

"Only if it forcibly moved"

Silence. Dylan's deep sigh caught Luna's attention.

"What? It wasn't your fault"

"I should have never left you alone. I could have killed that guy if I was there, but he did take responsibility, so... "

Luna simper, she takes his hand into her, causing Dylan to look at her. "It was pure my sloppiness."

Dylan sigh but with a slight smile this time, "Do you need anything?"

"Revelvet cake and a milk tea would do" She uttered in a whimsical tone

He stood up and brushes her hair, "Kay, I'll be back"

"Yes!" she cries in excitement causing Dylan to chuckle before leaving the room

Unexpectedly, as he walks out of the room, he bumps into 'the' guy at the other side of the door.

"Hi" he greets awkwardly

"I'm here to see, Luna. Is she available?" he asks hesitantly

"Yes, she's been waiting for you" Dylan walks away

"Thank you"

The guy knocks on the door several times to notify his presence. He hesitantly twists the doorknob and walks in.

"Well, that was quick, Brien--" Luna was stunned to find the guy's presence. She wasn't aware of his arrivals.

"S-Sorry. I thought you were my friend, Dylan"

He simps and walks over to her, taking a glance at her cast.

"Can I?" he asks for permission to sit and she grants him.

"I'm here to apologize for the other day. I was into the game way too much, also, I did not aware that you're a girl"

"It was an accident. No one expected that to happen, I'm okay with that. Don't worry, I'm a fast-recover"

"It was an accident but you broke your leg because of it. I feel totally remorse. I am willing to do anything to make it up to you. Even if it means to take care of you for the entire recovery days"

"Are you serious? You would do that?"

"Yes, I am determined"

"Okay, I'll take just that" she gives him her best smile

It turns out, her smile is infectious. He reaches out his hand at her for the second time,

"My name is Dylann Roof. I hope you find no regrets meeting me"

"Dylan?"

"With double n" he stuttered.

Luna giggles, "Luna Saint and I hope you'll take care of me well, Dylann"

Ever since then, Roof has kept his promise. He takes care of Luna extremely well. From the rest of her days in the hospital;

"You said you feel sick of the food here, so I made you 3 meals straight"

"Wow! You must be kidding me!" she screams in excitement as she unloads the meals boxes out the picnic bag.

He smiles seeing her enthusiasm, "Do you want to have your breakfast now?"

"Oh yes, sir!"

He escorts her every single day,

"Dylann, I wanna go outside. The air here is suffocating"

Roof rushes to her wheelchair and helps her moving on.

day and night he would have her in his companion for whatever she needs him either to do and to be.

"Dylann, I can't sleep" she whines

Whenever she couldn't find her drowsiness,

"Do you want me to sing you a song or read you a story?"

He would sit by the side of the cot and he would offer her either sing a song or read her a story with his typical fruity voice and doofus tone.

"Any request?" he asks

"Anything"

"Okay." He then began clearing his throat and start singing.

"Good night, good night it's time now to sleep. The moon's watching over you and your dreams. Good night, good night my sweet little one, tomorrow your eyes, they will light up the sun."

Mesmerize by his calming and soothing voice and enduring face, Luna feels her universe is centered around him.

"But good night, good night, sweet dreams, for now, drift on to sleep on your pillow of clouds. Good night, good night my sweet little friend. Tomorrow's adventure will soon begin."

Luna finally fell asleep soundly. Her breath is steady and she looked very serene. Unintentionally, Roof's hand moves, uplifted. To witness the only God's creation that ever tingles his humanity. Those pairs of dark brown pupils hidden behind her eyelids, the chubby pinkish cheeks on that tawny tone, and the natural pink shade of her lips. For the first time, he wanted to taste that masterpiece creation in greed.

In a blink of an eye, his lips were glued to her without he even knowing it and it lasts for several minutes.

After several days of staying at the hospital under the medicals surveillance, Luna can finally charge off. Dylans are there to pick her up. I repeat, both Dylan would be there to escort her out.

"Good morning, sunshine" Brien was the first one to greet her today

Luna vocally groan, "What is it?"

"It's your 'day' day, Luna! Wake up!" He forcibly unveils her blanket left her no choice but to get up

"'Day' day what exactly?" she asked sounds annoyed

"You finally can charge off and I'm here to pick you up"

"Oh," she mumbles. In a split second, her eyes widened,

"Where's DYLANN?!"

"I'm right here dumbass" Brien replies with a poker face

"Not you narcissistic dummies! I mean Dylann ROOF!"

"Oh, the boyfriend" he ironically uttered.

"He's not here."

"But whyyyyyyyy?!!!"

A creaking open-door sound comes from the bathroom door of the room and Luna's glance at it. There she saw the figure she was looking for.

"Because he was there, taking a bath."

Luna shut her mouth right away when he saw Roof emerge behind the bathroom's door, drying his hair with the small towel before his eyes bump onto Luna's and he gives her his charming smile as he greets her a,

"Good morning. "

"G-Good morning" she replies with a foolish jaw-dropped and drooling saliva which only Brien could see it or... sense it.

Roof smiles for one more time before then fled outside the room.

"Brien, I've never seen someone with wet hair and casual upsize clothes can be that charming" she mumbles

"Saint, your saliva is flooding the floor"

Luna glared at him once before she meaningfully smirks, "I know he kissed me the other night"

"YOU-- HE-- DID-- WHAT?!" Brien's scream can definitely crack some windows in this building and that wasn't even a joke

"And that was my first kiss"

"THE FVK?!!!!!!"
