ch2

Lily, with a curious gleam in her eyes, slowly released herself from Grandma's warm embrace. She turned to face her, her youthful innocence contrasting with the aged wisdom etched on Grandma's face. She cleared her throat, her voice soft and filled with wonder.

"Actually, Grandma," Lily began, her words carrying the anticipation of a long-awaited question, "can you tell me more about this place?

Grandma's eyes welled up with memories as she revealed the secret of this place to Lily. "This, my dear, is a small forest just outside the city," she began, her voice carrying a tinge of nostalgia. "I lived here for quite some time when my family abandoned me. It became my haven, a place where I found solace and strength."

Lily's eyes widened with a mixture of surprise and empathy for her Grandma

The thought of being left behind and alone in the world felt like an unimaginable ordeal.

However, as she gazed at Grandma's weathered but strong face, Lily couldn't help but admire the deep well of resilience that must have sustained her through those trying times. She marveled at how her Grandma had not only survived but also found solace and strength in the solitude of this forest.

In that moment, Lily's admiration for her Grandma deepened. She realized that Grandma's story was not just one of abandonment but also one of unwavering determination and the ability to find beauty and hope in the most unexpected places.she reached into her pockets, her fingers dancing in search of something. A spark of realization crossed her face, and she asked with excitement, "Oh, Grandma, did you happen to see my phone nearby when you picked me up?"

Grandma, her face reflecting curiosity, inquired, "What is that, dear?"

Lily explained, using her hands to form a square shape, "It's a small, square thing." She watched Grandma with anticipation.

With a knowing smile, Grandma rose from her spot, went inside the small cottage, and returned with a package. She carefully opened it, revealing Lily's mobile phone. "Are you looking for this, dear?" she asked, her eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief.

Lily's face lit up with joy as she exclaimed, "Yes, Grandma, that's it! Thank you so much. It's my keepsake."

Grandma simply replied, "It's nothing, dear." Lily eagerly took her phone, her fingers deftly unlocking the screen to check for any missed messages or notifications.

As Lily eagerly took her phone from Grandma's hands, her excitement was palpable. She wanted to check for any missed messages or notifications, but when she attempted to turn on her phone, her face fell. The screen remained dark, indicating that her phone had run out of battery.

Frustration and disappointment welled up in her, and she muttered under her breath, "Of course, the battery had to die at this moment."

She decided to find a spot with better signal, hoping to charge her phone later. Slowly, she attempted to get up, but as she did, a sharp pain shot through her body. Lily winced and lowered herself back to the ground.

It was then that she realized the source of her discomfort. There were multiple bruises on her body from her tumble down the hillside, but luckily, she didn't seem to have any serious injuries. She sighed in relief,

Recognizing that the pain was a small price to pay for her adventure. Lily settled back down, resolving to rest and recover before trying to find a place with a better signal to call for help.
