Life as a Rohingyan

Hello everyone , like the title says i will share my experiences of being Rohingyan with you guys.

Frist of all, what is Rohingyan? Well, Rohingyan is a raise. Rohingyans don't rely much on technology, they harvest their own food ( well, everyone does that),they use clay stoves, pots and ect. There are some people that use gas stove and pots that are made out of good materials. Those are the rich people among Rohingyans.

Most of the Rohingyan's idea about genders is still old fashioned. They think that man should only work hard in the fields and woman should stay home at take care of the household.* Sounds pretty normal, right? )

Some of you may know that there are places where child marriage is still considered normal. Well Arakan is one of those places (Arakan is where Rohingyans from), Families that aren't financially successful marry their daughters as soon as they reach puberty. You may wonder why? Well, it's because they have to give Dowry to that groom's family and it's not cheap at all. Whenever a girl hit puberty, talk about her spread faster than wild fire hence the family start to get proposals and the pick the one with cheapest groom gift (of course it's the families that aren't financially well)

2 or 3 decades ago Rohingyan started take education as priority but not all. Some people started to send their children to school to seek knowledge. But sadly the only boys had the advantage oc going to school because they thought that man are the ones that will work outside so they need the education, girls don't need it.

Even though boys started schooling but most of them study only the basics of basics and often drop out of school. Like that years passed and some girls also started to get basic knowledge, where as some boys started to study seriously (only a few).

Even though it was considered okay for girls to go to school things didn't change much for the poor girls. Child marriage was still the rule, in fact mg own mother is a victim of child marriage. She was married to my father when she was only 15 and my father was 25. Even though she was from a decent family, she was still a victim. At that time 15 was ths perfect time and if you are 2 or 3 years older you will be considered as a bit old because usually by that age you were to be a mother 2 or even 3 children.

*it's pretty crazy ,right?! I know *

Hence the very next year my mother had her first child and that's my older brother.

you guys are honestly very lucky cause you can finishe your education and work if you want, and there are girls that may be slightly older or younger then you who are not getting to enjoy the same luxury as you all..so please study hard and always be thankful to god for the life yoy have because there may be ppl who live a better life than you but there may also be alot of ppl that wish to live their life lije you. Thank you so much for reading.
