“Red wine spilled on the white soul”

She took a sip of that bitter drink and the taste danced around in her mouth. Drop by drop her mind was fogged, her body danced with a rhythm of its own. In front of her were the pages of an empty world waiting to be sinned. She took the blue pen resting on its stand and its open tip made way for another world. Her mind was swaying along with pen and her heart was troubled. She knew it was time for another road, but her hand couldn’t make it any further. She dropped the pen and leaned back in her chair. She screamed, not because of frustration but because of her restless mind.
The door opened in the dimly lit room with a head popping from behind it. “Why don’t you give up?” His deep and soft voice quietly asked. She looked at his eyes and then diverted her gaze towards the ground. “Just because…” she paused. Her voice didn’t come out. The door was closed and again the room fell into complete silence. ‘Just because it’s my only escape.’ her voice ringed in her head. She took the empty glass and filled it with the red drink. The red liquid splashed against the glass container, entrapped. She brought the glass near to her lips and the throat burned as the smooth liquid went down. Gently she twirled the glass in her hands and the dark wine spilled from its rim.
Her hand slipped and the drink splashed across the table. She didn’t want to react as her mind was tired and worn out of grief. The red water of drunkenness slowly spread on the table, the scribbled white pages stained in red. She watched the redness slowly engulfing the white. Tainted.
The beautiful white dress made the little girl look innocent and pure. As the girl ran across the hall the ribbon that held her hair firmly became loose, her dress made her look like she was flying and the long strands of hair floated between the thin threads of the wind. She really looked like an angel, pure and innocent, untouched by the world’s cruelty. “Little girl, are you having fun?” The dark, deep voice echoed in her ear. He had a sweet smile which could deceive anyone. She smiled back and nodded. “Well, I am lonely. Want to play with me?” He extended his hand. As naive she looked, she was. She gave her hand and he held it tight. They walked away from the bustling crowd.
He found a room, his warm hands grasped the cold doorknob and twisted it. He pushed the girl inside and her petit figure fell on the cold hard ground. She trembled, her small hands tried to support her fragile back. He walked around the room with his glass of red wine in his left hand. The little girl could hear his footsteps coming nearer to her feet. The room was dark and dangerous. The mind of the girl was filled with regret and fear. The glass was released from his hand and collided with marbled surface. The demon devoured to pure and innocent girl. Her screams were filled with fear and pain which was latter silenced by the darkening truth.
The door flung open and there was a rush of footsteps. The mother pushed against the big crowd in front of the room. Mother, she saw the shattered glass on the floor and the red drink staining the white ribbon which
was deserted on the wet cold ground. What next came next broke her into tears, her daughter in her white dress tainted in red.
She blinked her tears away. “Even though the demon is contained but what about his sins?” her voice choked as spoke. She wiped her eyes with her cold hands and released her heavy breath. Picking up the drenched notebook, she stumbled her way to the bathroom. She came back to the room with a dry rag in her hand. She wiped the table clean and carried the glass back to kitchen. Nothing has changed yet she couldn’t just walk away. It was holding her back and she was fighting it. It was tiring. Oh, how her white soul was tainted.
Till this day she could remember it so clear like it happened just now. She could remember how her mother held her little body in her arms, swaying back and forth crying out loud. She could still feel her mother’s hot tears dropping, her body hurting and the blood seeping down her short legs. How her body gave up on screaming, just laid on the ground with tears running down her cold wet cheeks. A six year old didn’t even knew what death was but would know what the “demon kills innocence” meant.
