Episode 1 : The shadow

“Because you will die”

She snapped back so fast that couldn’t finish my query, then she looked down. For a moment I her eyes were watery but since when do angels cry. Out from an old habit I touch her hair, gently patting her head to comfort her. Technically the only why I knew I could do such a thing without myself getting burnt is because she allowed it. A couple seconds later she brushes my hand away.

“I can’t believe l went against Him for a sinner’s sake”

She laughed and for once since our talk began I feel glad if I was to so myself. But still I must go even though death awaits...

“If I must die then I must for a good reason”

I try to pass her again and again she forces me back.

“Didn’t you hear me?! You will die if you go”

She said it again this time much louder than before. Strangely enough I couldn’t commit anything about her into memory with the exception of her eyes. At first I felt scared when she informed me of my pending doom but now I feel lighter, I knew my actions had consequences which I must face. If I back out now the challenge goes out too then the rapture of the world will be one sided but with the challenge everyone has a chance.

“I am afraid but at least I must have some courage hidden deep within me to face death”

And before I could take any notice she was gone just like how she had appeared without any trace at all, to make sure, I check my time and this time around it is 12:13 pm which I can only interpret as 10 minutes to my 100% angel prove death. Yet l feel happy not that someone cares for me this badly...

But...

It takes me only six minutes to arrive at the nearby taxi station where I knew by instinct that there is a truck out there somewhere with my name on it just like in most cases I have seen in isekai anime. I sigh at thought, all my insecurities trying to find a way to resurface from cracks made by the anxiety I am experiencing. I check the opposite side of the road to change my mind from the topic of death onto other important matters, it doesn’t take long before my eyes catch a glimpse of a kid. Although the kid isn’t looking back in my direction because he is rather busy on his phone but there is something behind him that has a drastic opposite presence to the girl from before. It is dark and has clung itself onto the kid’s shoulder like some kind of parasite or disease per say. The traffic light goes red and a bead of sweat trickle down my face. I swallow something hard down my throat, my fear. You can feel the cold murderous intent as it spews off from the kid from time to time.
