An Introverted Guy

An Introverted Guy

Episode 1: "The Quiet Boy"*

*Class 8, Age 13*

I walked through the school gates, my eyes fixed on the ground. Another day, another struggle to make it through without being noticed. My name is Rohan, and I've always been the quiet kid in class.

As I entered my classroom, the chatter and laughter of my classmates enveloped me. I found my seat and slid into it, trying to become invisible.

My best friend, Raj, sat next to me and nudged me with his elbow. "Hey, Rohan! What's up?"

I managed a weak smile and whispered, "Not much, Raj."

Raj didn't mind my brief responses. He knew me too well. We'd been friends since primary school.

Our teacher, Mrs. Kumar, began taking attendance. When she called my name, I hesitantly replied, "Present, ma'am."

Mrs. Kumar smiled and asked, "Rohan, how was your weekend?"

I fumbled for words, "It...it was fine, ma'am."

She nodded and moved on to the next student.

At recess, Raj and our friends, Aryan and Simran, invited me to play soccer. I declined, citing my lack of interest.

Aryan teased, "Come on, Rohan! You're always so boring!"

Simran chimed in, "Leave him alone, Aryan. He's just not into sports."

Raj added, "Yeah, he's got other talents. Rohan's amazing at drawing!"

I blushed, feeling grateful for Raj's defense.

Later that day, during lunch, Mrs. Kumar approached our table. "Rohan, I noticed you've been struggling in class discussions. Would you like extra help?"

I panicked, fearing attention. "N-no, ma'am. I'm fine."

Mrs. Kumar's expression turned sympathetic. "Rohan, it's okay to ask for help. You're a bright student, but sometimes I worry you're holding back."

I forced a smile and muttered, "Thank you, ma'am."

As the day ended, Raj walked with me to the school gate. "Hey, man, don't worry about what Aryan said. You're awesome in your own way."

I smiled, feeling grateful for Raj's understanding.

As I walked home, I wondered why I struggled to speak up. Was it fear of judgment? Fear of rejection?

I knew I had thoughts and ideas worth sharing, but my introverted nature held me back.

Little did I know, this was just the beginning of my journey to self-discovery.

*Reflections:*

*Why do I struggle to speak up in class?

*What are my strengths and passions?
