_Ethan's Pov_

I stared at my phone, Liam's words echoing in my mind: "You'll need luck, bro." Breaking up with Rachel wouldn't be easy.

At school, I spotted Rachel chatting with friends. My heart sank. How could I end things without hurting her?

Meanwhile, Trevor walked toward me, Emily by his side. My pulse quickened.

"Hey, Ethan!" Emily called out.

Trevor smiled, and I melted.

_Trevor's Pov_

Emily nudged me. "Go talk to him!"

I took a deep breath and approached Ethan.

"Hey, Ethan. What's up?"

Ethan's eyes locked onto mine, and I sensed a spark.

"Not much, Trevor. Just, uh, trying to survive school," Ethan replied.

I chuckled. "I feel you. I'm drowning in AP Calculus."

Ethan laughed. "Same here! I'm starting to think Mr. Johnson has it out for us."

We commiserated about our shared struggles in calculus, discussing problem sets and study tips.

"I heard there's a study group forming," I mentioned. "Want to join?"

Ethan's face lit up. "That sounds amazing! I need all the help I can get."

Rachel appeared, wrapping her arm around Ethan's waist.

"Hey, babe!"

Her possessive tone made me uncomfortable.

Trevor's expression faltered, and I felt guilty.

"We were just discussing calculus," I explained.

Rachel's smile seemed forced. "Oh, cool. Ethan's always struggling with math."

Ethan's eyes narrowed slightly, and I sensed tension.

I noticed Rachel's grip on Ethan's waist tightening.

"Ethan's actually really smart," I countered. "He just needs the right study resources."

Ethan's face flushed, and I felt a pang of satisfaction.

Rachel's laughter sounded artificial. "Oh, Trevor, you're always so charming."

Emily intervened, "Hey, Rach, we should grab lunch together soon!"

Rachel's gaze lingered on me before she nodded. "Sounds good!"

As we parted ways, Ethan's eyes met mine, and I sensed a connection.

_Liam's Pov_

I spotted Ethan and Rachel at lunch. Ethan seemed distant.

I joined them, trying to gauge the atmosphere.

"Hey, guys!"

Rachel's smile seemed forced.

"Ethan, what's wrong?" I asked.

Ethan shook his head.

"Just stressed, Liam."

I knew better.
