Episode 3- Past Story 1

Finally Kira thought as she printed out her assignment. It had taken three sleepless nights and around 20 cups of coffee but she'd finally done it. For the first time this week, she could sleep. Like actually sleep. Not take a 2 hour nap but take eight hours of well deserved rest. Just as she was about to crash on to her bed, her door slammed open and in marched her step mother and step sister, Laney. In the back, she could see her father with a smirk on his face and a whip by his side. Her mother and sister had menacing stares and their piercing green eyes shot through her. Before she could wonder what she did wrong, her step mother slapped her.

"You think we wouldn't notice your bank account? Remember all your money is ours too. We give you shelter, food, and schooling. The least you could do is give us the measly money you earn at Starbucks. Do you even think about how your actions affect this family? Laney saw you working there and was too ashamed to even go in. If it hadn't been for her we wouldn't have even known. You're a scheming bitch just like your mother."

"In return for my sufferings, I'll take your paper. I had forgotten about that it's due in two days so you can type up a new one. Consider this a favor" Laney snaps

"Next time you do this sort of thing there will be several consequences " her dad says in his deep throated voice " This will serve as a reminder" with that he took out his whip and hit her on buttocks three times. After her family exited taking her hard earned money and paper and left her with embarrassment, rage, and a sting in her legs. What's the big deal about working on the first place? She wanted money to buy her self a birthdays present. And they don't even need the money Kira thought. They're just taking it to show they have power. She got up and scrummaged through her desk till she found the cold handle she was looking for. Taking it out, the sharp blade pierced her skin as she created another cut. A reminder to her future self. A reminder of what her family treated her as. Garbage. Crap. A reminder to get pay back. A reminder to make them suffer just like she did. A reminder to embarrass them. A reminder of how if feels to be at the bottom. Weak. Powerless. Glancing down, she saw the rows and columns of cuts. Each time was a bit deeper. She felt more useless. And more anger was bottled up inside of her. At least they send me to a good school she thought. Well they better or else they'll be shamed in public another voice in her replied. A tear dropped down the side of her cheek. Soon, more followed. A few minutes later, Kira was sobbing into her pillow. What did she do to deserve such a life? Why was she born into this family? Kira vowed to get revenge and show them what it's like to be at her side of things. No power. No hope.
