Chapter 3: The Argument

"Mother but why did he agreed." I was sooo angry that I didn't know what to do. I know my dad doesn't like that much but sometimes we understand each other without talking he could have told me.

"My daughter you also know that one day that you will get married it's ok to marry now there are many people I know that their daughters married and they have children and also have a career. They also work you can also work after your marriage."

When I heard my mother said like that I was kind of angry. "Mother there is also a possibility that he won't allow me to work and if we fight where should I go, should i come back home but with what face should I come back."

I was frustrated, angry but to whom should I vent my anger.

After i talked to my mother i went to my bedroom, I prayed for to rakaa to ask guidelines from My Lord. Then I slept because of this terrible headache i have all of a sudden.

i woked up before dinner. I went downstairs to eat but when I saw my dad face I recall what happened before and my anger doubled.

I didn't greet anyone, I ignored all of them I want them to know am against this so called marriage. I sat on my chair and I started to eat .

"My dear how are you now? How do you feel?" my mother asked me.

"Good."

"Whom are you showing your attitude, first when you came downstairs you never greeted us, you ignored us your family because of what? That I agreed for you to marry without your consent but am your father what I do is what I know is good for you. And secondly what did your mother do have you forgotten she is pregnant and is that the way you should talk to her she is just asked you how you were could you not say something like 'I am good mother now I feel ok how is my sibling doing are you fine' can't you not say like that."

"Wow dad at least you know why I acted like that. I know you are my father and I know you do what's best for me but you could have told me this 'so call marriage' why now. I know we don't talk much like you and my brother talk, we sometimes leave our conversation with no conclusions but we have an understanding with each other right? so I believed my dad won't do something against me but if he does he will tell me or at least tell my mother, but no you broke my believe in you dad. Why did you not say anything about when my 'so called future father-in-law' came. If not at least what you could have done is give me his phone number so that we can talk, understand each other see if both of us agree to this. This marriage is not between you father's but us children's. It is not you who will marry him but me..." before I could continue talking I felt pain in my cheeks. He (my father) just slapped me. He never in my entire life slapped me.

"Is that what you think of me like I am thinking what benefits me in this marriage hence I agreed to this marriage without your consent."

"Maybe you do I may never know why you agreed in this marriage. And what did you saw in this marriage?"

"Get out of my house. Now you became an adult hence you are talking like that to me."

"You think I want to stay here. Dad I never talked to you like that because I respect you and because of my mother."

my mother interrupted us," my dear husband and my daughter calm down let us talk in a calm way ok. No one is leaving ok please can you calm down."

"My dear wife you saw how she is talking to me this shows our daughter is old enough to feed herself she doesn't need us. She thinks the world outside is easy let her know how much we protected her, gave her a shelter, food."

"Mother you also calm down am already calm. You are pregnant don't worry about me. Mother don't interfere I know you care about me but I want my father to tell me why he agreed and if he agreed why never told me anything."

"Is there a need to tell you about it. Just get out of my house and if you want to stay here you have to agree to my condition and my condition is to marry that man."

"Now dad are you making me choose. It doesn't mean that you are my father you should force me into something that I dont want."

We never saw when my mother fainted and I never saw when did my brother left ,I was wondering why was he not talking.

We heard somebody fall on the ground and when we checked I saw my mother on the floor

"MOTHER!!!!"

"DEAR!!!"

"Mother are you ok."
