2 Step
Jasmine lay in her bed, her body shaking under the warm bedsheet. She pulled it tightly over her head, closing her eyes as hard as she could. Something didn't feel right. She had the strange feeling that someone was watching her, even though the room was silent. Her heart raced, and she could hear her breath growing faster.
Minutes passed, but the feeling didn't go away. She wanted to scream, but her throat was dry, jasmine slowly pulled the bedsheet down and peeked around the room. Her eyes widened as something strange appeared in front of her.
It was dark blue, like a shadow, but it was different, almost glowing. Her body froze in fear. The air in the room felt heavy, and her heart pounded louder. Without thinking, she gasped and fainted, falling back onto her bed.
After she awake she slowly opened her eyes, her head spinning. She was no longer in her bed but in a strange room filled with thick, swirling smoke. The air was heavy, and the smoke seemed to choke her every breath. She sat up, her heart racing in her chest, and looked around in confusion. Nothing was familiar.
Suddenly, she heard murmurs coming from a nearby room. The voice was soft, almost like a whisper, but it sounded... like her. Jasmine's breath caught in her throat. The voice was hers, yet something was wrong, twisted in a way that made her skin crawl. The voice spoke in words she couldn’t understand, but it felt as if it was calling to her.
Fear gripped her tightly as she slowly stood up, her legs unsteady. Her mind screamed at her to run, but something kept her from leaving. She moved cautiously toward the room, each step heavier than the last. She hesitated at the door, her hand shaking as she reached for the handle.
With a deep breath, she opened it. What she saw on the other side made her blood run cold.
Jasmine stood frozen at the door, her breath shallow. Inside the room, she saw herself. It was her, sitting across from someone, speaking in a low, calm voice. But jasmine couldn’t see who the other person was. The figure was shadowed, blurred, as if the smoke in the room was hiding them.
Her own voice echoed strangely in the air, as if it wasn’t really hers. The words were soft, but there was something unsettling about the way they sounded, something foreign and unfamiliar.
Jasmine felt a chill run down her spine. She didn’t understand what was happening, but she couldn’t tear her eyes away from the strange scene unfolding before her. She took a careful step closer, trying not to make a sound. She pressed her ear against the door, straining to hear the conversation more clearly.
Suddenly a cold hand slowly reached over her shoulder from behind. She froze, unable to move, her heart pounding so loudly it drowned out every other sound in the room. The touch was soft, but it felt as though ice had spread through her veins.
With trembling hands, she slowly turned around, her mind screaming for her to run, but her body refused to obey. When she faced the figure behind her, her own face stared back at her—her own eyes wide with fear, her own expression filled with confusion.
