One: Strange

My body feels weird, did I eat too much?

"Hey! wanna go to our favorite cafe?" Henna asked, bringing me back to reality.

I gave her a small smile and started packing up my things, "sure" I answered.

She immediately ran towards her table and grabbed her bag, I stood up and followed Henna.

She pursed her lips and looked at me, her eyes were full of confusion, "What's wrong?" She asked.

I sighed and looked at my watch to check the time, 5:49 Pm.

I shifted my gaze back to her and smiled, "I'm just tired".

She nodded and grinned before entering our favorite cafe.

"Good afternoon! May I take your order?" The girl asked.

Henna took her wallet out of her bag and answered "Two Grande, Cappuccino please"

I looked around to find a vacant table but then spotted a mysterious man looking at me with his dark brown eyes, the newspaper he's holding is blocking his face. I avoided his gaze, weird.

My body feels so strange, I've never felt this feeling before.

'An adventure is waiting for you, It is dangerous and red but yet, worth it. Good luck ;)'

I shook my head to brush off that thought, that can't be real. This feeling is just a coincidence, it's not because of the letter. Well, it can't be.

I placed my bag beside the chair I'm sitting at and sighed. After two minutes, Henna walked towards me with our drinks and took a seat.

She took a sip at her drink and looked at me, "Summer is near, what are your plans?" She asked.

I froze on my spot, I've never done anything that will make myself enjoy ever since that incident happened. Everybody's telling me that I changed a lot, that I'm not the old Eumica they loved. Can they blame a traumatized person? I've been through a lot, I've seen too much and I blame myself for that, for not doing anything at the time they needed me.

I bit my lower lip and looked at my drink avoiding her gaze, "I don't plan things, I might stay home and watch movies instead of going out"

Her lips parted in shock, "You're wasting your summer on boring things? No! I'm taking you with me"

My brows furrowed, "where?"

"Philippines" She answered and smiled.

"I can't afford a plane ticket"

"But I can"

I looked at her and scoffed, "You've done so many things for me, no need for that. I won't go with you"

She smiled even more, "Then go with me in order to repay all of the things I've done for you. You need to enjoy life Eumica, put the past behind and have a fresh start again"

I closed my eyes, accepting defeat. "Fine," I said making her clap in joy.

My body is getting worse, I feel like I'm about to faint any second.

I cleared my throat and placed my drink back at the table, "I have to go to the bathroom" I said.

Henna nodded and smiled. I rushed inside the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror, nothing changed but my face is starting to look pale.

That's it! I'm going home.

I left the bathroom and went straight to Henna, "I have to go home" I said.

She raised both of her brows before getting her bag but I stopped her from doing so.

"I'll go wit-"

I forced a smile, "No need" I cut her off.

I immediately took my bag and walked away, leaving her speechless.

This really can't be happening, I have to burn this paper no matter what. This will only give me bad luck if I chose to keep it now that I've finally opened my eyes and realized, that this future prediction given to me by that vending machine might be true.

"Come on Eumica, Be st-"

"You're not going anywhere" A man spoke.

I turned around and expected to see a man but there's none, it feels like the air is talking to me.

My hands started shaking as I hold my bag tightly, "Whoever you are, leave me alone!" I shouted like a crazy person talking to nobody.

"Shh, be a good girl and sleep"

After hearing him say that, my vision started getting blurry, I can't even feel anything anymore causing me to fall into darkness.

The only word that escaped from my mouth was 'help' but sadly, no one heard me.

"Yes boss, I have her," He said on the other line.

My lips curved as I turned my gaze back to the window, "Great, take her here" I said and hung up.

Finally achieving the dream I've wanted ever since I was a kid feels good, yet, Strange.
