Chapter 2

Its been six months since Rebecca moved from the orphange to Ms Janila Dawson house. In these few months, she is able to adapt and adjust herself completely to the new environment. She got Ms Janila in form of a mother and also Ms Janila treats Rebecca as her own daughter giving her all love and care that a child need in their life. The house is not so large but it's fits perfectly for two people. Rebecca has a own room which she has beautifully decorated according to her wish. The house is situated near the hillside and there are not many houses neaby. But Rebecca has some friends of her own age with whom she used to play everyday. Among them, Sofa who is a year older than Rebecca became her best friend. Within six months they have become inseparable friends sharing each other secrets and every bit of pain and happiness. She is also loved by everyone around including the elders because of her decent and polite behavior. Though late, Rebecca's dream of going to school came true. She began her schooling in the same school as Sofa. At first she had problems to cope up with other students of her age but with the help of teachers and her sheer determination,she is able to get though it. She has been leading a prosperous and happy life with her mother. Ms Janila works in a bakery shop situated in the middle of town. Although her salary is not so high but it is satisfactory enough for them to led a good and average life. But life don't always goes smoothly.

It was during her first year of high school when her mother, Ms Janila was diagnosed with cancer. Though she was unwell occasionally but she always refused to go to doctor afraid of wasting money. The bakery shop she has been working is not thriving well and as a result the pay scale of the employees went down. But finally when Rebecca convinced her and she agreed to visit the doctor, it was found out that she was diagnosed with cancer and it already reached stage 2. On that day, Ms Janila felt as the world had collapsed for her and her daughter. Soon she constantly began to fall ill and was frequently hospitalized . Due to her condition, she had to leave the job. Though she has some saved money but it is not enough neither for her treatment nor for Rebecca's study or future. Besides their daily needs, she has to pay for her daughter's education, water and electricity bills and above all her own hospital bills for check up and chemotherapy.

Amist all the problems Rebecca is able to do well in academic performance and passed her high school with flying colours. But after this, Janila health condition became worse. Though Sofa's family helped them a lot both physically and financially, but it is not enough to meet their financial needs.Rebecca needs a lot of money for her college admission besides hospital bills. So she decided to get admission in that college whose fees is lowest regardless of her marks as she has no other option. She began to think about different ways or paths to earn money. She began to despise her own life for being poor, for not able to treat her mother and for not able to fulfill her own dreams. Being fed up of her own situation, she promised herself to work for earning more money despite the right or wrong way. She will do anything or apply any path to earn money. Owing a lot of money and becoming rich became a aim in her mind.
