COFFEE SHOP - DAY

A young woman named Maya sits alone at a table, sipping her coffee. She has a kind face, but her eyes are filled with sadness. She looks around the coffee shop, watching the other people enjoying their lives. She feels a pang of loneliness.

MAYA (To herself) I'm just a common girl. I'm not like the other girls. I'm not beautiful or rich. I'm just... me.

Maya takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. She tries to forget about her troubles. She wishes she could just disappear.

Scene 2

APARTMENT - NIGHT

Maya is sitting on her couch, watching TV. She hears a knock at the door. She gets up to answer it.

MAYA (To herself) I wonder who that could be.

Maya opens the door to find a man standing there. He is tall and handsome, with kind eyes.

MAN Hi, I'm John. I'm your new neighbor.

MAYA

Hi, I'm Maya. Nice to meet you.

JOHN

You too. I was just wondering if you wanted to grab a cup of coffee sometime.

MAYA

Sure, I'd love to.

JOHN

Great. How about tomorrow?

MAYA

Sure.

JOHN

Okay, I'll see you then.

John leaves, and Maya closes the door. She smiles to herself. Maybe things aren't so bad after all.

COFFEE SHOP - DAY

Maya and John are sitting at a table, talking and laughing. They seem to be having a great time.

JOHN

So, tell me about yourself.

MAYA

I'm an orphan. I've been living on my own since I was 18. I work as a waitress at a diner.

JOHN

That's amazing. You're so independent.

MAYA

Thanks.

JOHN

I'm a doctor. I work at the local hospital.

MAYA

That's great. You must help a lot of people.

JOHN

I try to.

MAYA

You seem like a really nice guy.

JOHN

Thanks. You too.

Maya and John continue to talk for a while. They realize that they have a lot in common. They start to fall in love.

APARTMENT - NIGHT

Maya and John are sitting on the couch, watching TV. John puts his arm around Maya.

JOHN

I love you, Maya.

MAYA

I love you too, John.

Maya and John kiss. They are happy together.

APARTMENT - DAY

Maya is sitting on the couch, reading a book. She hears a knock at the door. She gets up to answer it.

MAYA

(To herself)

I wonder who that could be.

Maya opens the door to find John standing there. He looks sad.

JOHN

Maya, I have to go on a business trip for two months.

MAYA

Oh.

JOHN

I'll miss you so much.

MAYA

I'll miss you too.

John leaves, and Maya closes the door. She sits down on the couch and starts to cry. She misses John already.

Scene 6

APARTMENT - NIGHT

Maya is sitting on the couch, watching TV. She gets a text message from John.

JOHN

I love you, Maya. I can't wait to see you again.

Maya smiles. She knows that John loves her. She just has to wait two months.

Scene 7

AIRPORT - DAY

Maya is waiting at the airport for John's flight to arrive. She sees him walking through the terminal. She runs up to him and hugs him.

MAYA

I missed you so much.

JOHN

I missed you too.

Maya and John kiss. They are finally together again.
