Alessia Romano’s world shattered with a single sentence.

“You’re getting married in seven days.”

Her father’s voice was cold, final. The weight of his words pressed down on her like a crushing boulder. She gripped the edge of the dining table, her breath catching in her throat.

“No,” she whispered, shaking her head. “You can’t be serious.”

Across from her, Don Vittorio Romano, the head of the Romano crime family, simply sipped his wine, unfazed by his daughter’s rebellion. “It’s done, Alessia. The contract is signed. You will marry Lorenzo DeLuca, and this conversation is over.”

Alessia’s stomach twisted at the name. She had heard the stories—the whispered rumors of the Ruthless King of the Underworld. Lorenzo DeLuca was more than just a mafia boss. He was a monster in a tailored suit, a man feared by enemies and allies alike. Cold. Calculating. Completely devoid of mercy.

And now, he was to be her husband.

“No,” she repeated, louder this time, standing from her chair. “I won’t do it. I am not some pawn to be traded like property.”

Her father’s gaze darkened, his jaw tightening. “You will. This marriage will unite the Romano and DeLuca families, bringing peace after years of bloodshed. You will obey me, Alessia.”

Alessia clenched her fists. “What if I run?”

A slow smirk spread across her father’s face, sending a chill down her spine. “Then Lorenzo will find you.”

As she turned to leave, a chill ran down her spine. A deep voice, smooth yet commanding, echoed through the dimly lit room.

‘You can run, but you can’t hide, sweetheart.’

Her heart pounded as she met the piercing gaze of the man she feared most. The game had just begun.”
