"I just woke up to a brand new day and a fresh start. After getting up, I made my bed and went to my siblings' room to wake them up for school. I called out to Mom and Dad, and we met them in the kitchen, where they were already eating. "Good morning," we greeted in unison.
As we ate, I noticed the sadness on Mom's face, and it made me think about becoming a working student. Later, Papa spoke up, "I'll take you kids to school." We agreed, but Mom objected, saying Papa had work to do. Papa insisted, "I don't get to spend time with you kids often, so let me take you to school today." Mom couldn't argue with that, so she prepared our food (packed lunch) instead.
After Papa dropped us off, I walked my younger siblings to their classroom before heading to mine. As we were about to part ways, Ningning, my youngest sister, asked, "Ate Sai, will we really lose our house?" I reassured her, "No, Ningning, that won't happen. We'll find a way, Mom and Dad will. Don't worry about it, okay?"
As I walked to my classroom, I met my friends Meiyi and Mitch. They asked, "Sai, what's wrong? You look upset." I lied, "I'm just tired from doing research last night." They believed me, and we headed to our classrooms. After dropping Mitch off at her classroom, I went to mine.
In my first class, Biology, I felt a bit rusty and a bit basic. After our first subject we have to take our break time to eat and relax, so During break time, Meiyi and I went to the cafeteria, where our friends James, Duke, Dave, Kevin, and Mitch were waiting. "Ah, the queens have arrived," Dave joked. Meiyi playfully responded, "Shut up, we were late, okay?"
As we ate, the guys chatted, and Meiyi and Mitch joined in. But my mind kept wandering back to my family's problems. What if I really had to become a working student? What if I married an old man just because he's rich? No way.
Duke suddenly tapped my forehead, "Hey, what's up? You're so quiet." James agreed, "Yeah, you're really quiet today." Mitch added, "Maybe she's just tired from staying up late." I don't have an appetite to eat so I excused myself to go to the restroom.
As I walked away, I heard Dave tease, "Hey Sai, maybe you're just having your period and that's why you're so quiet." I rolled my eyes, thinking, "What does he know about periods?"
When I entered the restroom, I bumped into Sophie and her friends again. "Ugh, I see those annoying people again," I thought to myself.
This part of the story continues to explore Sailai's daily life, her relationships with her family and friends, and her struggles with her family's financial problems.
