A Slap to the Face

DongHong barged open the door to see DongMei sitting on the bed coldly staring back at her causing her to shiver.

“Since when did the fool had the ability to cause fear in me? NO she must be bluffing!”

DongMei continues to observe DongHong.

In all honesty DongHong is a beautiful girl.

With brown hair, green eyes, pale skin and her soft freckles make her look like a humble woman.

The problem is, though, she acts too arrogant which outshines her facial beauty. She also notices that DongHong is at the 2 level of the Martial Qi realm.

DongMei sighs in her head.

“If only she wasn’t so stupid.”

DongHong raises her hand to slap DongMei.

“Bitch! Look at me when I’m talking!”

DongMei grabs her hand before it can land on her face. Looking up she stares at DongHong coldly.

“I’m the legitimate daughter and so is my twin brother who gave you, a concubine daughter the right to hit me? If father needs me so bad then lead the way we don’t want be late.”

Walking in front of DongHong DongMei walks out of the door. Leaving DongHong angry and confused.

Walking into the meeting hall DongMei is greeted with the sight of her father(DongQiang) and his concubine LiFang siting in the head chairs. While her eldest sister(DongLing), her eldest brother DongBai, Her youngest sister DongHong, and her youngest brother DongBiming next to LiFang. And her twin brother Dongchang is sitting in a seat by himself in the far corner. If you were not from this family you’d think that he is not related to them at all!

Such a scene caused DongMei to sneer in her head.

“I’ll be your downfall to all those who mistreated my brother.”

Walking farther in the room DongMei greets her father with an aloof aura around her.

“Good afternoon father.”

DongQiang stares coldly at this daughter he barely looks at.

In a cold voice he responds.

“Do you know how much shame you brought to this family by trying to commit suicide? How long are you going to keep bringing shame on this family?!”

DongMei sneers at her father.

“I wouldn’t bring shame on the family if someone took the time to educate me. Wouldn’t you think so father?”

DongQiang bangs his fist on the table.

“Who do you think you are to talk back to your father like that?!”

DongQiang questions with his cultivation level aura leaking from his body.

DongMei stares blankly at DongQiang.

“He’s a 3rd level Marital Spirit. I must become stronger!”

DongMei looks at him sharply.

“Father why did you call me here?”

DongQiang calms down and sneers.

“Since you’ve been such an embarrassment. I am cancelling your engagement with the crown prince.”

DongHong sneers.

“Big sister don’t you start committing suicide now. You might really die this time!”

DongMei glares at DongHong.

“Your an Illegitimate child with a concubine for a mother. Do not interfere when the legal child is talking to her father.”

There is tense silence with an angry LiFang and a embarrassed DongHong.

DongLing steps forward.

“Younger sister. You know DongHong doesn’t mean any harm. She’s just trying to warn you to not hold on to the crown prince. It’s not healthy.”

DongMei observes DongLing.

DongLing is a true definition of a fake white lotus. Her long blond hair she inherited from LiFang and her blue eyes she inherited from DongQiang makes her look so pure. But DongMei can feel the hidden hostility coming from her when she said “to not hold on to the crown prince.”

DongMei scoffs in her head.

“It seems her and the crown prince relationship is deeper than I thought.”

“DongLing, if you’re so concerned about my wellbeing why didn’t you come check on me like any big sister would? Or is it that you truly knew that I never took your bracelet from you?”

DongLing’s smile slightly stiffened.

DongBai yelled at DongMei.

“A liar and a dirty woman like you would never deserve any sisterly support from DongLing who is a true definition of a pure woman who knows how to conduct herself!”

DongMei ignored DongBai’s dog like barking and turned to DongQiang.

“Father will you let me prove my innocence?”

DongQiang looked at her coldly.

“If you can’t prove your innocence I’ll disown you and your brother from this family. Understood?”

DongChang grabbed DongMei’s hand.

“Sister you don’t have to do it!”

DongMei pats DongChang’s head and sneers at DongQiang.

“When have you ever done any good for me as my father. The courtyard I live in is not even a place to live for a child let alone a growing teenager.”

DongQiang looks at LiFang.

“What kind of courtyard did you give DongMei?”

LiFang looks at DongMei with a calculating look.

“Honey the courtyard I gave DongMei is the same courtyard she’s had over the years. I don’t see the problem.”

DongMei gives LiFang a look of distaste.

“How about all of you come see my courtyard then we will continue this bet.”

“I would also like to witness this bet you speak of DongMei!”

Just then the crown prince walks into the meeting hall accompanied with his servant and bodyguards.

DongQiang gives the crown prince a flattering smile.

“What brings you here your majesty?”

The crown prince Cheung Zhang Wei looks at DongMei and DongLing.

“I’m here to break an engagement with one of your daughters.”

He pauses and sneers at DongMei. Then gives DongLing a loving look.

“And marry another. But in order to do that I want to see how this bet will turn out.. I’m very curious.”

DongMei rolls her eyes and looks at DongQiang.

“I’ll show you the way.”

Then proceeds to grab DongChang’s hand and leaves out of the meeting hall.

Walking into her courtyard she turns to her “father” and the rest of her “family.” And points to the smelly room and broken furniture.

“Since my maid was taken away from me I’m not able to clean or get any new furniture.”

DongMei then points to the disgusting mushy food that has flys and worms on it.

“The food is not even healthy to eat nor is it edible it looks like mush.”

Then without caring about company she walks out of the courtyard and point to the grassy field.

“This fields is so grassy you can’t walk through it without getting lost. any one can die in it.”

Then acting like she doesn’t notice the dark look in DongQiangs face DongMei continues.

“Father no one in the Dong Family has ever lived like this, so why do me and my brother have to live in such an environment?”

DongQiang gives LiFang an irritated look. Who in return gives him an embarrassed look.

Then DongQiang turned to DongMei

“If you can prove your innocence then you and your brother will have 3 things you ask for.”

Cheung ZhangWei speaks up.

“Matter a fact I’ll do 1 of your 3 conditions.”

DongMei smiles sarcastically.

“Don’t go back on your word.”

Cheung ZhangWei sneers.

“Like you’ll be able to prove anything.”

Ignoring him DongMei points behind DongHong.

“She was the one who stole DongLing’s Jade bracelet.”

DongHong shrills in anger.

“YOU ARE ACCUSING ME.”

DongMei rolls her eyes.

“Not YOU! Your maid behind you.”

The maid MingMei falls to the floor.

“Young miss even if this servant has tiger guts I would never steal from this family please don’t frame me!”

LiFang grabs the maids hand.

“DongMei you can’t frame someone without proof. Even if it is a maid!”

DongMei continues without blinking at the endless chatter of the people around her.

“When I was in my room this servant came to me saying that Eldest sister invited me to sit with her friends near the lotus pond.Following her I saw how she constantly continued to look around her like she was making sure no one was near. When arriving me and eldest sister had a conversation and then she went to the front to see her other friends.When she

left this servant bumped into me when she was serving me sweets causing the Jade bracelet that was already in her hand to fall into my pocket. But when sister came back with her friends and said she lost it. When my pockets were checked seemedthat I stole it.”

DongBao sneers in distaste.

“If that was the case why didn’t who say anything except stuttering.”

DongMei gives him a cold glance.

“Who wouldn’t be shocked with such an accusation sitting on their heads? If you don’t believe me take the bracelet and look at it. One of its charms is missing it should be in this maids pocket.”

DongQuiang checked the maids pocket and found a charm that was lost from the braclet.

In anger DingQuiang shouts.

“Take this maid and beat her 70 times to death!”

The maid falls to the floor in tears.

“I’m sorry Master! I’m sorry! Please forgive me I won’t do it again!”

DongMei then turns to DongQuiang.

Can I Name my conditions now?”

DongQuiang waves his hand in exasperation.

“Fine go ahead.”

DongMei smiles darkly.

“My first condition: I want my mother’s old courtyard and a new one for my brother too.

My second condition I want me and my brother to both be able to attend the academy.

My third condition: I WANT TO ANNUL MY ENGAGEMENT TO THE CROWN PRINCE!”

Everyone takes a sharp breath seeing the darkened look in the crown princes face.

No man has ever had an engagement broken off

by a woman. It’s usually the other way around

if a man has his engagement broken off by a woman he would be a laughing stock of the country.

DongQuiang gives DongMei a hard look.

“None of your conditions are reasonable.”

DongMei gives him a look of disgust.

“My first to conditions are very reasonable.

Me and my brother are both the LEGITIMATE CHILDREN we have rights to our mothers courtyard and my brother to his own fitting for a legitimate son.My second condition is even more reasonable I’m a Dong I have the right to have an education don’t I? So the courtyard my eldest brother and sister is occupying is not fitting at all for illegitimate children. Wouldn’t other laugh seeing the state of how the legitimate children are treated as such?”

DongLing steps forward gracefully.

“Your right little sister. I should have never occupied your mothers courtyard in the first place I’ll move out today.”

DongMei nods her head.

“As you should we wouldn’t want anyone thinking that the illegitimate daughter can walk over the legitimate daughter. Also DongBao your courtyard is also for the legitimate son you should move out today too.”

DongLing has a cold look in her eyes she masks quickly seeing the crown prince looking at her pitiably.

While DongBao is shaking in anger.

“Father you won’t let her have her way right?!”

DongQuiang gives it some thought.

“DongMei is right you both have no right to stay in those courtyards. It’s time for you both to move out. And DongMei you and your brother shall go to the academy. Only if you are a cultivar in the 3rd Qi realm that’s the rules.”

LiFang gives DongMei a “worried” look.

“Yes Darling you have to be able to cultivate in order to go to school. They are testing in 2 months be prepared.”

DongHong laughs.

“She can’t even gather any spiritual energy let alone cultivate!”

DongMei gives them both a look.

“A concubine and a bastard daughter has no right to interfere with my matters.”

Ignoring DongQuiangs warning look DongMei turn to Cheung ZhangWei.

“Aren’t you going to fulfill your part of the agreement. No one will blame you if you go back on your words crown prince.”

Seeing the maids whispering about him ZhangWei clenches his hand and sneers in his head.

“No one will blame me? Look at how the maids look at me! My reputation would be destroyed if I don’t follow through!”

Grabbing the brush he grabs the annulment paper stating how DongMei requests the engagement to be annulled and he signs his name at the bottom. After signing his name he throws the brush down and proceeds to leave the Dongs estate with an angry hmph.

Everyone proceeds to leave except DongChang DongBao and DongMei.

DongBao scoffs.

“Don’t get your hopes up to much. Be prepared you might end up slipping sister.”

DongChang speaks up and steps in front of DongMei.

“Watch how you talk to my sister punk.”

DongBao snarls.

“What are you going to do? Slap me? You don’t even have anymore cultivation you became a waste!”

Then proceeds to walks out.

DongMei grabs DongChang’s hand.

“Don’t worry brother! I’ll protect you!”

DongChang smiles.

“I’ll hold you to that.”
