I wasnโt supposed to be there that day.
Wrong road, wrong time.
Or maybe... exactly the right time.
I remember telling my driver to ease the car to the side, the rain hammering down so hard it blurred the world into nothing but streaks of gray.
And then I saw him.
He was standing there like he didnโt belong to the storm. Soaked...
At first glance-drenched to the bone, hugging himself, staring down the road like he was waiting for something that wasnโt coming.
At first, I thought about driving past. I almost did.
Then I caught it.
His scent.
Familiar, but wrong.
Ocean breeze - fresh and clean, like salt on skin after a swim - but tangled with something else. Something that set my blood humming low and sharp in my veins.
Something waking up.
I rolled the window down before I even made the decision.
Unlocked the door. Waited.
He hesitated - good instincts - but curiosity won.
He climbed in without a word.
Close up, he looked even younger, like a painting half-finished.
Wild curls dripping water everywhere, wide brown eyes that refused to meet mine, and that scent... stronger now that he was in my space.
Alive. Growing.
I didnโt speak.
Didnโt dare.
If I had opened my mouth, Iโm not sure what wouldโve come out.
Instead, I let my car drove, feeling the weight of him sitting beside me like a pressure building under my skin.
He kept fiddling with his phone, pretending to scroll, pretending not to stare at me from the corner of his eye.
I could feel his nervousness like static in the air.
Could feel my own pulse answering it in ways it shouldnโt.
The smart thing wouldโve been to ignore him.
Forget the way the smell of rain and him tangled together in my head, making it hard to think.
But Iโve never been that smart.
When we reached his stop, he bolted - barely managed a โthanksโ before disappearing into the storm again.
I shouldโve let him go.
But as I sat there, watching him vanish into the gray, I realized I wouldnโt be able to.
Not now.
......................
I realized it was late knowing we would never meet..
But I didn't lose hope.... I found his number...
I know it's wrong but for him..
My instinct made me do...
That night, I stared at my phone longer than I shouldโve.
Thumb hovering over the keyboard.
In the end, I sent it - short, quiet, the only thing that felt real between us.
"Donโt forget the rain."
Maybe it was stupid.
Maybe I was being reckless.
But somewhere deep down, I already knew.
That boy wasnโt just a passing moment.
He was the start of something.
And no matter how hard I tried, I wasnโt going to be able to walk away from it.
But my curiosity didn't stop ...
I made him know that it didn't end yet
> "You didn't forget".
Letting him know, That he already belongs to me...
> "The rain brought you to me"...
I sent texts with no hesitation...
" He didnโt reply, but I knew it was enough."
