3 PM. Tuesday.

Xia Nian finished everything that she needed to for her report in one of her subjects.

"Alright! Everything's settled! I'll distribute these materials on thursday to my group mates for them to review.", she casually told herself.

'Ou Rui hasn't contacted me yet. I wonder what's wrong...', she sighed while thinking about this.

Ou Rui has been so cold lately that left her wondering what's wrong since they haven't had any fights recently.

He's been so cold that he even forgot to greet her for their monthly celebration five days ago.

Of course, as martyr as Xia Nian was she let that thing past. For her, saving her relationship with Ou Rui is more important than throwing some tantrum over something half important and half trivial.

Worried and somewhat uneasy, Xia Nian give Ou Rui a call.

"Hey, you haven't called me lately. Are you busy?" asked Xia Nian.

"Yeah, pretty busy. How are you doing these days?" Ou Rui replied.

"Hmm.. Missing you?" she teased.

"Kidding aside Ou Rui, I've been pretty held up but I haven't forgotten to send you a message. Why haven't you replied? I've been waiting for days." she pouted.

"I've got load works to do, sorry..."

"Xia Nian..." sighed Ou Rui.

Ou Rui's tone suddenly got heavier, but she still hopes that it is not what she thinks.

"Y-yes?" she smiled nervously on the phone.

"Let's break up." Ou Rui replied coldly.

"Why?"

"This long distance relationship will not work for us..." Ou Rui said.

"But we've been together for so long... No, I mean, we just got back together after a short break... right? Why now?" Xia Nian asked holding back her tears.

"I've got a new girl." Ou Rui frankly said.

"Heh. So, that's how it is huh..." Xia Nian mockingly answered as tears came down her cheeks.

"Why? Ou Rui... Why?! I've almost given you everything I can give. I've been studying hard for us... Our future... But, why? Why does it have to be like this?!"

"Is it because I can't go to where you are now? That you find another? Tell me why Ou Rui..." Xia Nian cried silently as she asked a barrage of questions.

"I still love you, Xia Nian. But, I also love her... I fell for her. This relationship isn't going anywhere."

"This is the best. For the both of us. For you. I'm sorry, but let's end this here." Saying these, Ou Rui hang up the phone.

Dut. Dut. Dut.

Xia Nian was left crying over the other end of the phone by Ou Rui. Not knowing what exactly happened, aside from the fact that Ou Rui had fall for another while she's away.

Xia Nian tried to call Ou Rui again but couldn't get through. She smiled mockingly at herself. Unable to accept the fact that the man she loved has left her. For another.
