Raien, now older (about 17), sharp-eyed, calm, and cloaked in a black robe with torn sleeves, stands before the towering gates of the Final Selection Grounds.

His blade — dull black, like ash — is strapped to his back.

👥 Final Selection Introduction

Two identical twin girls stand before the applicants — pale-faced, monotone.

TWIN 1:

“To become demon slayers, you must survive... the Seasonal Trial.”

TWIN 2:

“You will be grouped in fours. Each group will face a Seasonal Demon. Only those who live… pass.”

⚔️ Raien’s Team is Formed

1. Raien – Shadow Breathing

2. Kiro – Lightning Breathing (hot-headed boy with electric blue eyes and fast strikes)

🏞️ The Trial – Entering Autumn Forest

Their Seasonal Demon is known as:

🍁 “Goro the Autumn Ripper”

A demon who disguises himself as falling leaves and vines

Slashes his victims with claws made of hardened bark

He blends into the scarlet forest, invisible in the mist

🌫️ Battle Begins

The group steps into the forest. Mist. Silence.

SHOJI (whispers):

Suddenly — Kiro’s shoulder is slashed by a vine claw from above.

KIRO:

Kiro uses Lightning Breathing, Third Form – Thunder Pulse to land a hit, but Goro blocks with a bark-arm.

Ayame covers Kiro using Water Breathing, Fifth Form – Rainfall Dance to deflect incoming claws.

Raien vanishes into the mist.

😱 Shoji is Cornered

Goro grabs Shoji and slams him to the ground.

GORO:

“You’re the weakest… I’ll start with you.”

Shoji bleeds, eyes wide in terror. He closes his eyes, seeing faces:

His late father.

His best friend.

His little sister.

SPIRITUAL VOICE (in his mind):

“We’re with you... Shoji…”

Suddenly — Shoji's back is touched by ghostly hands in his vision.

💚 A green aura explodes around him. His eyes glow white.

SHOJI (Spirit Breathing – First and Only Form: Soulbound Awakening):

“RAHHHHHH!”

He leaps up and punches Goro in the jaw — sending him flying back into a tree.

⚫ Raien Strikes from the Shadows

As Goro recovers, Raien appears behind him — silent.

RAIEN (Shadow Breathing – Fifth Form: Crescent Silence):

“...Fall.”

One clean, arcing slash — he slices through Goro’s midsection, his blade silent and black.

Goro gasps. He tries to regenerate.

RAIEN (quietly):

“I learned to kill before they even see me.”

Kiro (watching):

“...He’s insane.”

Raien finishes Goro with a decapitation from behind, stepping through the demon’s last breath like fog.

The forest fades. The twin girls reappear.

🎭 Aftermath

That night, they are given their uniform orders. Their swords are to be reforged in their chosen colors.

Shoji collapses from exhaustion — his spirit state is gone.

Ayame approaches Raien.

AYAME:

“You were incredible... But you fight like someone who’s already died once.”

RAIEN (coldly):

“Maybe I did.”

Raien turns away.
