Chapter 5

"Oh, wow. What happened to you?"

Mila crossed her arms as she assessed me with

her sky blue eyes. Remi, who was leaning on Mila's locker, looked like he

wanted to laugh. They were both trying hard not to laugh. The sight was

irritating.

"You don't usually look like this though.

You look bad but today you looked worse." They cackled at their own joke.

I groaned. "The guys really don't know

how to give a little mercy." I sighed.

Mila inhaled as their laughter died down. "So...

have you decided about your date?" She asked excitedly, not even worried

for her best friend’s state. Remi though frowned at her sudden question.

"You mean her and Keelan?" Remi

clarified.

Mila squealed. I, on the other hand, felt awkward

and scared.

"Yes! They look so good together. I can't

wait for them to actually date." She squealed and gushed at the thought of

us.

Remi mused and nodded. "If it's Keelan,

he’s cool. I'm confident in you dating him. I mean the guy is a saint. Even if

I punch him, I know he'll just smile. I approve."

"I know, right? He's hot, too. Such a

perfect match for Kai."

I just stood here stiff with a desperate look.

"What's wrong? You look pale." Remi

asked in concern.

I lunged at Mila as I held her shoulders with

a panic look in my face. "You have no idea what you're talking about.

Mila, I'm fucking screwed right now."

The two eyed me inquisitively. "What are

you talking about?" Remi eyed me with concern.

"The guy is fucking evil, I tell you.

He's not a saint, Rems."

"What do you mean?" Mila asked as I

withdrew my hands from holding her. The two now became serious and concern

etched in each of their faces. And so I told them what happened.

They chuckled as they shook their heads.

"He's probably teasing you, Kai." Remi stated. "You shouldn't

take what he said seriously. He always jokes around, you know." He

shrugged.

"Right. You were probably just drunk last

night and it clouded your judgment." Mila second the motion.

I frowned. "Except I wasn't. You

should've seen the look on his face. It's pure evil. He's probably going to

announce the whole world who I am."

Mila sighed and she released a playful smirk.

"Kyree, you're being paranoid. The guy is freaking harmless and you're

just stressed because this whole double life thing is taking a toll on you.

Don't overthink. It's gonna get you nowhere."

Remi pulled away from the locker and stood in

front of me. He pulled my eyebrows apart. The eye glasses poking his thumbs.

"And stop scowling. You already look worse. Don't make it worst. With a

T." They laughed and I was still not okay at all.

I stepped back and pointed at my face.

"He did this!" Not really. It was the guys but still.

"Hey."

My nerves jumped and I stiffened.

"Oh, hey man. We were just talking about

you." Remi went around me and did a manly handshake to the owner's voice

behind me. Mila eyed me with utter amusement. I looked above the heavens and

cursed the world for my life.

"May I know what that is?" He asked.

His voice was soft and calm like the night we first talked. I closed my eyes as

I tried to mutter a Latin curse. Kidding.

"We were just talking about your

date." My eyes widened at her. She looked at me mischievously. Oh, god.

They really didn't believe me.

"Oh. It's actually the reason why I came

here. I wanted to talk to her about it."

****.

I turned around to face him and probably

summon a courage to actually shoo him away. Cause that date ain't gonna fucking

happen. But then he gave me that genuine smile he always has. The one that

managed to gather girls around him. Heart melting, head turning, jaw

dropping... why the hell does he have to be so handsome? I don't want to feel

attracted to him… again.

Mila squealed behind me. I opened my mouth to

object but Remi somehow knew what I was going to say. He gave me a look that

dared me to say it. I just pinched my lips intead.

I looked back at Keelan, the genuine smile was

replaced with a playful smirk as he examined me from head to toe. I knew I

wasn't imagining things. It was the same meaningful smirk last night.

I knew what that look meant. He was studying

what I wore. He just met me three times and all of my three different looks. My

party look, my rocker look and now my school look.

I really don't want people to know who I am

thus, I changed my look every now and then. This has been going on since the

junior year of my high school when I started being the vocalist of Code: Red.

I'm pretty sure he's holding his laugh right now with how I changed drastically

in a short amount of time.

I know I looked like a nerd right now but

that's the point. I wanted to be ignored. It was a bit hard at first cause Mila

and Remi were both popular and Remi was the frat leader which makes him more

popular.

I dressed simple everyday in school with plain

jeans and t-shirt. My hair is in a ponytail and I cover my eyes with eye

glasses. I don't know how but he seemed to always recognize me. Keelan knew

Remi. They were friends but they weren't really that close. Keelan knew Mila as

well. I hope it's the reason how he knew me.

"Well, I guess we'll leave you be then."

My eyes widened as Remi turned to leave and in

the corner of my eyes, I saw Mila following him as I felt her shoulder brushed

against mine when she passed by.

"Wait, wait, wait!" I started to

follow them as I muttered a curse. I gasped as I was pulled back suddenly. I

looked down at Keelan's hand wrapped around my forearm.

"You're not going anywhere,

sweetheart." He gave me a playful smile.

I stared at him in alarm. "What are you

up to, Keelan?" I frowned as I tried hard to glare at him.

"That should have been my question. Tell

me, baby, which one are you? The first? The second? or the third?" His

face was now serious as he stared at me. I finally noticed the real color of

his eyes. I was right about it being on the lighter side. His eyes are green,

so transparent and I can see a few golds in them. It was mesmerizing. It fits

his whole look.

"That's none of your business." I

spat. I pulled my arm away but he held it firmly. I couldn't shake him off and

he was only using minimal effort.

I gathered my strength to get off from his

grasp and the moment that I did, he pushed me against the lockers behind me. I

gasped from the initial shock. He closed our distance. His hand was still

holding my arm. His other hand was pressed against the locker beside my head.

We were inches apart. His nose inching closer and closer to mine.

He then leaned his mouth against my ear as he

said these words huskily.

"We'll talk about our date then."
