It was a normal morning on the outskirts of London, the Flamel family gathered for breakfast, around the table were the oldest and head of the family, Edward, the couple Samuel and Yumi, and the youngest Shin.
Edward was a gentleman with gray hair, but his eyes that shone in carmine showed his still strong vigor, his personality but was kind and loving to his family, he had as a hobby the excavation, his hobby earned him numerous trips around the world with numerous stamps filling his passport.
"Shin, I want to give you something."
In his hands there was a small necklace, the cord was made of apparently normal silver, but the pendant was somewhat special, its surface was designed in such a way that no matter how he looked the vision would become stuck, there were countless carvings that formed what seemed to be a great matrix.
As Shin intrigued by observed the notches on the surface that seemed to have no end, the pendant in Edward's hands seemed to glitter for an instant, stunning the young man.
Observing that reaction with a smile, Edward extended his hand and handed the necklace to Shin.
"Soon you will enter college, take this as a form of amulet. It's something I found on one of my expeditions, it was hidden in an ice cave in the Arctic".
"Father, wasn't that your treasure?"
Such a question came from a middle-aged man, with somewhat sturdy crimson eyes and red hair, that was Shin's father and Edward's son.
"You are right but wrong."
Such words were enough to intrigue all present, Edward observing their reactions smiled cheerfully.
"It may be one of the greatest treasures I have found, but it is no more important than my family, Shin will begin a new phase of his life, and I as a grandfather not so present, want to leave you something that can remind you of the love of this old man".
Edward's sweet, kind words touched the hearts of each of his family members, and with that necklace in his hands, Shin smiled affectionately and slightly bowed.
"Thank you Grandpa, I will keep it carefully, and I will make sure not to forget it. At the end of his words he carefully placed the cord around his neck, then turned towards Yumi.
"How do I look, Mom?"
Yumi was a gentle looking woman, her eyes were the color of topaz, and her long hair ran like a silver waterfall over her shoulders. "A little better than normal maybe?"
For the provocation of her mother Shin could only release a crooked smile and sit down, her reaction however did not escape the laughter of her family.
"Oh right, you'll be back today, won't you?
"Yes Dad, soon the classes will start in Tsinghua, so we need to return soon".
Yumi nodded in agreement to her husband's words. "We were going to go even sooner, but we wanted to say goodbye in a proper way".
Edward looked at the three of them with a loving look, and joked. "Okay, it was good to have your company on this vacation, this old man thought he would die of loneliness!
Hearing Edward's words, Samuel provoked him. "Father, didn't you say you wouldn't be lonely while there were expeditions to be done?"
Edward then snorted. "This old man still needs the company of his family.
His words ended up making the three of them laugh.
.......
"Grandpa we are going, remember to visit us so as not to die in solitude".
For Shin's joke, Edward just smiled lovingly and said goodbye. "Okay, have a good trip."
The three of them boarded a cab that left for Heathrow International Airport.
After a quick check-in the family boarded the plane that would then leave for Beijing.
.....
"Son, is everything okay back there? It's a long trip, why don't you try to get some rest".
For her mother's loving words, Shin could only smile. "Okay, Mom, I'll do what you told me."
When she heard that her son would do what she had said, a beautiful smile blossomed on Yumi's face, she then stood up and affectionately stroked Shin's head. "Yoshi, good boy, rest well.
To his loving mother, Shin could do nothing but agree, so following her advice, he put his headphones on his cell phone and put in play a playlist of an American band called The score.
But when he closed his eyes, the pendant in his neck shone a weak and almost imperceptible glow, it wasn't long before a thread of light crossed his chest and invaded his conscience.
Shin was someone who rarely dreamed, but at that moment he closed his eyes his conscience plunged into something that reminded him of a battlefield, but it wasn't like in medieval movies, it was a place that reminded him of a futuristic city in ruins. Above the city countless forces roamed the skies, various elements of nature could be seen, lightning, flames and ice, which terrified him but was the force demonstrated by such elements, it was such that not even the strongest disasters filmed by humans could compare.
"What is this place?
In his mind the memories he possessed were of boarding the flight to Beijing with his parents, and then falling asleep at his mother's request.
"This was the last human fortress, the city of Agartha.
For not waiting for an answer, Shin looked around looking for who had answered him.
"Who are you?
"You can think of me as the remaining will of a Magus.
Smiling in a crooked way Shin thought to himself 'I think I need to think better about what I've been watching
"You are not dreaming, your soul is now in a space inside the pendant that your grandfather gave you.
"Huh? I thought too loud?"
"No, just that at this moment I'm in direct contact with your mind."
With a strange expression on her face, Shin did not know how to continue the conversation.
"Don't mind, you like what you see?"
Watching the skies again, full of different colors because of the different forces.
"Should I say beautiful? Controlling forces of nature seems to be something incredible..."
Seeing the young man's interest, the magician continued.
"Long ago, in an era now erased from history, this was how humans lived, in search of superior forces, they discovered magic, and with it they developed what would become the apex of humanity, magical science.
The vision of the city changed, it passed from the ruins to a place full of life, where towers scratched the skies, what looked like cars floated between the buildings, a breathtaking vision.
"You wouldn't tell me this for nothing, what do you want from me?"
"For a long time I have been looking for someone who could inherit my knowledge, but for the countless years that have passed, many people came into contact with the pendant, but none had the necessary requirements.
"So what?"
"Today while you were watching the pendant for the first time I could confirm, you were the most suitable to receive my inheritance".
'even if it's not true, what does it cost to try?
For the young man's thoughts in front of him, the wizard could only smile
"I know there is no free lunch in this world, even if the story of you searching for someone for so many years is true, you wouldn't give me all your knowledge for free".
"I like smart people, I don't need much, I have only one last will".
"And what would that be?"
"Destroy those who have betrayed humanity!"
