“Nothing’s ever just ‘simple,’ especially not outside the village perimeter.”

Naruto:

“They’re fresh genin. They need to learn.”

(He stamps the scroll with a mission seal. Close-up: “Team 9 – Assigned”)

(Kanzō, Yureha, and Renjiro stand before Daiken-sensei. A map of the Fire Country region is pinned to a board behind him.)

Daiken:

“First mission. C-rank. Patrol an abandoned outpost near the Forest of Bone Ash. Report anything unusual.”

Renjiro (raising an eyebrow):

“Why does ‘abandoned’ sound like code for ‘haunted and full of booby traps’?”

Yureha:

“The Forest of Bone Ash… isn’t that where rogue shinobi used to hide during the war?”

Daiken:

“If you’re scared, say so now. Otherwise, move out in 10.”

(Daiken disappears in a shunshin.)

[Scene 3 – Outside Konoha | Forest Trail]

(Birds chirp. The team walks through a mossy path. Kanzō trails slightly behind, eyes scanning everything.)

Renjiro (mock whispering):

“If I get impaled by a trap, I’m blaming you, Kanzō.”

Kanzō:

“I’d make sure the trap was silent.”

Yureha (quietly):

“Focus. There’s something off about the wind.”

(She stops. The group freezes. Even the forest goes still.)

[Scene 4 – Abandoned Outpost Perimeter]

(They arrive at a ruined stone building overgrown with roots and moss. A rusted wind chime dangles over the entrance, eerily still.)

Daiken (appearing suddenly):

“Split up. Sweep the perimeter. If you find anything—signal.”

(They each nod and break off. Camera follows Kanzō first.)

[Scene 5 – Kanzō’s Search Path]

(Inside a dark storage room, Kanzō spots faint scorch marks and recent footprints.)

Kanzō (thinking):

“Someone’s been here recently.”

(He pulls a glowing thread from his finger and threads it across the doorway like a tripwire.)

[Scene 6 – Renjiro’s Section]

(Renjiro kicks open a door. A wild dog growls and lunges—he sidesteps, slams it into a wall with a flash bomb, then mutters to himself.)

Renjiro:

“Man, where’s the ninja cats when you need ‘em?”

[Scene 7 – Yureha’s Section]

(Yureha stares at an old scroll on a collapsed desk. Her fingers touch strange ink—her vision warps for a second before she blinks it away.)

Yureha (softly):

“This isn’t just an outpost. Someone was sealing something here.”

[Scene 8 – Sudden Ambush]

(Three masked rogue ninja burst from underground tunnels, surrounding Yureha. One tosses a kunai straight at her.)

Kanzō (from above):

“Yureha—down!”

(A chakra thread pulls her sideways as the kunai grazes her cheek. Renjiro drops in with a sliding kick, knocking one enemy into a wall.)

Renjiro:

“Told you something was off.”

(Combat sequence begins — Yureha uses mist-style genjutsu, Kanzō binds one with thread, and Renjiro knocks the last into unconsciousness.)

[Scene 9 – Aftermath | Outpost Ruins]

(Daiken arrives after the skirmish ends, arms crossed.)

Daiken:

“Three hostiles. Low-level rogues. Still — you didn’t run.”

Kanzō:

“We handled it.”

Daiken:

“No. You worked together. You adapted. Better than expected.”

(He turns his back to leave.)

Daiken:

“Next time, don’t wait for me. A real mission doesn’t wait for reinforcements.”

[Scene 10 – Return to Konoha, Nightfall]

(The team walks through the village gates. The streets glow with lanterns. A passing jōnin nods in recognition.)

Renjiro:

“Okay. That was more than ‘simple.’”

Yureha:

“But we passed.”

Kanzō (smiling faintly):

“We’re getting there.”

[Ending Scene – Daiken’s Apartment Balcony]

(Daiken stares at the full moon, sipping tea. He looks at a photo of an old squad—one face scratched out.)

Daiken (to himself):

“Maybe… these kids will make it after all.”
