Aurora Perrault

POV: Aurora Perrault

We came out of the boardroom, and the entire hospital had assembled outside the room. One glare from him was all it took to disperse the crowd.

"Strict?" My whisper was barely audible.

"Open your mouth and speak!" He gestured as his eyes sparkled.

I pointed at him and made a angry face.

"Constipation?" He mouthed as he raised his eyebrows at me.

My eyes widened in surprise, my words just hung in the air. He let out a fully teethed chuckle as we kept walking towards the exit.

"You definitely understood what I meant" I asserted.

He shrugged.

"It is a job demand." He mouthed.

"Elevator?" I stopped exactly infront of it.

His turned around to look at me, his lips turned into a thin line as he rose arm to show me a board on a door that read 'Step up your health-take the stairs'

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at him.

"Pretty diabolical coming from a man who was tossing me around like a potato-sack, and lifting me by my legs and slamming me to wall" I said with raised eyebrows.

His arms just did semi circle as now they pointed towards the elevator.

"Good" I said as with a nod.

Roar - 1, Doctor - 0. Lol.

We entered the glass elevator together, he stood two steps away from me, I leaned back as he pressed the Basement button in the elevator.

The lift descended slowly from the illuminated bright light to a dimly lit elevator shaft. Even that space is well maintained, no dust no spider webs, no dirt nothing, plain white walls.

"Yes, everything here is pristine." He mouthed as if he was reading my mind.

The lights in the space started flickering.

"Indeed very pristine" I said as the corner of my mouth quirked up.

His mouthed twitched, I could see a flash of annoyance.

The lights in that space got entirely turned off and the lift halted.

He swiftly took his phone out and unlocked it, he seemed to realize something.

He let out a sharp exhale.

I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Wrong Phone" He mouthed as his hands made a crossed each other to make a X gesture.

"No worries" I pressed the alarm button in the lift.

The lights and AC of the elevator got turned off abruptly.

My mouth instinctively made a O in the dark.

He immediately turned his phone's flashlight on.

I also took my phone out and turned the flashlight on.

His silent eyes stared at the ceiling while his face gave no response, he kept on pressing the alarm button, but it didn't seem to work at all.

"I'm not in a hurry!" He tilted the flashlight towards himself as he responded with a simple nod, avoiding any eye-contact.

He continued to press the alarm button.

"Excited to get rid of me?" I joked, and turned the flashlight to face to get his reaction.

"This" he pointed at the basement, "is the least visited area at this hour" he mouthed and signed. "Plus" he crossed his fingered into a + "This is the least used elevator, if we sit idly that someone will notice this and help us, then no soul would ever get to know that we're trapped here" he mouthed.

"Fine" I gestured and kept my mouth shut.

After five minutes I saw him sit down, his hand yet pressing that alarm button. I turned my flashlight towards him again and I noticed how profusely he was sweating. This was not normal.

Why can't he remove his giant coat, so that he can be a little comfortable, and good lord even his collar buttons aren't unbuttoned.

"Are you fine?" I asked him as I offered him some tissues.

He was immediate to respond "I'm fine" he signed though the rigid snap of his wrists told a completely different story.

"No you're not" I asserted as I shook my head.

He let a breath out slowly.

His mouth parted open like he was about to say something but nothing came out, he just gave me a half-hearted smile.

"See, I'm a stranger, We may never even meet after this, you know there's no risk in sharing it with me."

He instinctively shook his head.

"It's not about risk, it is a long story-"

"I have all the time." I said as I settled down next to him..

"Cheezy!" He let out a chuckle.

"I'm feeling cold, can I have this?" I said as I pointed at his coat.

He immediately removed his coat and draped it around my shoulders.

Now I clearly could see how soaked his white shirt was, how stiffened up his shoulders were and on top of that his waistcoat stuck to his wet shirt like a second skin.

"I'd call you hot if I could see your collar bones popping up, but that buttoned collar is blocking my view."

He smirked unbuttoned a the first two buttons.

"Better?" He asked knowingly.

"Waistcoat's blocking my hot view again" I frowned.

He glanced once at me, I shrugged at him, his mouth twitched to suppressed smile.

He slowly removed the waistcoat looking at me.

I like how he does what I ask him to.

"I like how you try to help people using without making them feel it's a pity party" He mouthed.

"You figured it?" I asked with my eyes so wide like they'd bulge out any sec.

"I knew the moment you asked my blazer." He mouthed with smirk.

I couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Time passed, Silence surrounded us again.

He kept pressing the alarm button, but that damn thing doesn't seem to make any difference.

My phone buzzed with 'Low battery notification'. I turned off the torch light immediately and set it aside. I could no more see his face.

All I could see now was a flashlight shivering in his hands directed towards the ground.

A dark space with just a flashlight, perfect for hand shadow play.

I started with my favourite Panchatantra Tales,

I turned my left hand upside down and facing backward. Brought my thumb forward to act as the bottom jaw and curled my pinky finger slightly. Then made a tight fist with my right hand and positioned it just below the left hand to act as the lion's resting paw.

I elbowed him to look at the shadow.

He slowly turned towards it. I moved my left thumb and pinky finger to show him movements. He kept staring at it in shock. I made a mouse, a deer and a crow. His eyes never left my hands. When I was struggling to make a turtle, he passed out. His phone frantically slipped down, his body dropped back, I immediately picked up his phone, and turn the flashlight on his face. He's pale.

I held his wrist to check on his pulse. I could feel his heartbeat hammering. I patted his cheeks to get up him, no response, I instinctively pulled him closer and pressed my ear to his chest.

His erratic heartbeat reverberated in my ears. Chills went down my spine as I saw his improper breathing rate. I need to take him out.

"HELP!!!!!!!!!" I scream. My surroundings looked as deserted as ever.

I sighed in surrender.

I stepped back furiously and rushed forward to break the glass.

No crack, not even a scratch.

I took out my sharp edged steel flask.

I kept delivering sharp, concentrated strikes at a corner of the flask, I don't see any progress, I look up to ask god why me, out of all others?

I see a tiny crack on the edge of corner I'm trying to crack open, now I put out all my strength and start striking hardly at that same point for I've lost count how many times, and one huge crack appears.

I go back to check on him. His heartbeat is acting all fast and furious.

My heartbeat for some reason does the same too.

I lifted my arm and stroked again with great force and this time I didn't even look up, I knew it'd shatter into pieces, it did.

I quickly shielded him and dragged him out, took him back to the first floor through the stairs. The lab technicians gasped at the scene.

I'm covered in glass piece at this point.

"His heartbeat is getting turbulent". I informed the RNs.

They rush to bring the stretcher. His body is made to sleep on the stretcher and is dragged inside in a fraction of second.

The amount of priority privileged people get, I'll tell you, I shook my head in dismissal.

"Oh my god." The receptionist gasped.

"Please come and get treated." She uttered as she dragged me gently to the Casualty Department.

"What happened? How did it happen? I'm so sorry you had to go through this."

"Don't pity me" I asserted almost immediately.

"Certainly not, I just wanted to thank you. I'm extremely sorry if I come across as rude." She said with head bowed down.

"No need to be this embarrassed, I get your intentions, and for the thanks part, anybody with a lil humanity would do the same I guess, also I dunno if I am in a position to say this but you're too innocent for him." I say gazing at my wounds as nurse carefully removes the glass pieces.

"You don't even know Taylor. He's everything I prayed for." She says with teary eyes.

"You prayed for a man who'd choose to drop his ex at this hour even when he knows that same ex is head over heels for him."

"Yes, I trust him enough to do that" She said with her chin high.

I smiled at her demeanor.

Love was always blind, but sometimes it makes the one in love, blind too
