Chapter 2: Choices and the Beginning of the Exam

Eden had already lived through school life once before. He knew very well how, at the dawn of the 21st century, teachers in India often wielded their authority over students without restraint. Media influence was limited back then, and there was little to no public scrutiny of teachers’ behavior. From primary school to high school, corporal punishment and mental harassment were common practices.

His entrance exam center was at the city’s Fifth High School—a place infamous for being one of the worst schools in the region. Students there were considered the weakest, and the teachers were of equally poor repute. Most had graduated from ordinary teacher-training colleges, where quality was severely lacking. Eden, now mentally and emotionally in his thirties thanks to his rebirth, already knew all of this.

The Challenge of Entering the Exam

When Eden reached the exam center, blood was still trickling from his forehead. His face and clothes were smeared with mud and rainwater. The inspectors at the gate stopped him immediately.

“You can’t take the exam in this condition. Go to the hospital,” one of the male teachers said sternly.

But Eden’s face remained composed. Pointing at his injury, he said firmly,

“Sir, I was in a car accident. My condition is serious. If you don’t let me in, I might collapse right here. And believe me, if something happens to me, even three years of your salary won’t be enough to fix it.”

His words shocked not only the teachers but also every student standing nearby. No student ever spoke to teachers in such a way. Yet Eden’s grave injuries and unshakable confidence forced them to relent.

“Fine, fine! Go inside and sit down,” the teacher snapped angrily.

Eden entered the hall with a faint smile. As he took his seat, the other students stared at him as though he were some kind of warrior.

The Plan of Rebirth

Eden knew this was his second chance. In his previous life, that very exam had ruined everything. During the English paper, his injuries and delay had dragged him down. He had scored only 49 marks, which had cost him admission into a good college.

But this time, he would write his own fate.

The moment the question paper was handed to him, Eden scanned it quickly. Every word seemed crystal clear. In his previous life, during college, he had mastered English. Now, he could answer each question with full confidence.

Lessons from the Past

Reflecting, Eden thought,

“If only I had scored just 10 or 15 more marks that year, my entire life would have been different. But this time, no matter what, I’ll secure at least 120.”

Rebirth had not only given him another chance but also reminded him that with hard work and the right direction, dreams could indeed be achieved.

---

The Exam Begins

The hall fell silent. Inspectors handed out answer sheets and question papers. Eden cleared his mind of every distraction and focused entirely on the test before him.

This time, his pen was no less than a warrior’s sword, and this exam was his battlefield.

Would Eden succeed in rewriting his destiny?

Would this rebirth finally lead him to his long-lost dreams?

(The story continues with more mystery and suspense…)
